Blake and Lexi were the best guides anyone can ask for. Very knowledgeable on everything in the forest and totems.

We started off with a walk around the build shops as Blake explained the history of the totem designs. We were lucky enough to meet Kevin, who builds these. It was really cool to understand the meaning of the designs and see all the tools it takes to make one. They have a blacksmith on-site who actually makes most of the tools they use.

Then we headed into the rain forest, what a magical site! The growth was spectacular. Trees climbed high into the sky, mushrooms in all shapes, colors, and sizes. We were even lucky enough to see a banana slug on a large red oak tree. The area is usually swarming with bald eagles, but in late September, when we were there, they travel with the salmon.

We did see a black bear in the forest and we extremely lucky to have it come up about 50ft away and sit and watch us. He stayed there for about 20 minutes while we took pictures and talked about him. He had plenty of fish, so we weren't to worried.

We then walked back to the main entrance where we boarded a Unimog that took us up the mountain. We then did a safety meeting and got all the gear on for ziplining. The Zipline took us through that same rain forest we just walked through. So much fun!! It was so beautiful. We even saw two more black bears in the river below catching fish and walking along the...

This was a great experience! We just visited this week our first time being in a rain forest. The guides were very friendly and did a fantastic job of educating the group. The walk through the forest was very wet, which is to be expected, and very green. I loved the sights there and although we did not get to see any bears, the group behind us on the trail did. If people had not been talking too loudly the bear may have come back around to where we could view it.

We did get to see the salmon spawning and saw tons of gulls in the area. At the end of the tour, we did get to see some of the totem poles in the park. Very impressive to see. The only thing I wish was changed is having some animal totem pole figures in the gift shop. There were only some totem pole things but nothing like the other totem gifts I’d seen in gift shops in Alaska on our many stops. I was specifically looking for an orca totem item, black and red in color, but did not see any. It’s my own fault, but I should have purchased that item back on my first stop in Sitka. Besides that, they have amazing hot chocolate and other gifts. Overall, a great experience and wouldn’t hesitate to go there again! I’m horrible with names, but our group was split in two for the tour. We went with a gal named Shannon and she was very informative...

We visited as an excursion booked with our cruise line and it was billed as a nature and totem park. It was an excellent visit and we loved it. The guide pointed out lots of local plants and trees etc, and the forested area is beautiful - it’s located about 20 minutes from downtown, and just up the road from George Inlet. The absolute highlight was seeing several Black Bears from the elevated boardwalk - a mamma bear with her Three (!) bouncy baby cubs, and later another bear in the wooded area (the guide said her cubs would also be nearby). The bears all come to the estuary area to catch the salmon who are returning to the salmon hatchery where they were spawned years earlier. Bear sightings are not guaranteed. The visit ended at the Totem Park where we met a native man who carved Totem Poles. There is a collection of Poles in the yard each with their interesting descriptions & story. This is an excellent “compact” tour / visit where you can learn about Alaskan native plants & trees, learn about totem poles, stand next to a bald eagle inside it’s cage … and possibly see wild bears! Highly...
