A great semi private beach where everyone knows everyone and where you can let your kids run around safely. Great spot for families.

Tappens is a good beach depending on your needs. For younger children or people looking to swim more I would suggest heading west to Newport. The beach is littered with seaweed and rocks. On the other hand if your looking for more of an adventurous experience this beach is good. The beach is flanked by very large rocks which are good to climb. They also make for a very beautiful setting. Along with that there is a rock jump area. The rock has a stairway with lifeguards at the top. There is a low jumping(5ft) best for kids and people not looking for too much thrill. A medium jumping spot(12ft) good for everyone. And a high jump which is maybe around 30-40 ft high. Very high. There is a diving board which allows you to get far away from the rock. The high jump is suitable for most ages from 8-80. Many people decide to swim back to shore but be aware it is a hard swim with the current. I myself am a strong swimmer and found it difficult. There is a ladder option if You choose...

This beach is private to semi, depending on the day of the week. Private homes dictate guard at gate during warmer months. Not a resident, not bringing a car in… road is one way in/out. We love it back here. If you live in the area, sometimes you can walk the 1/2 mile in to get to beach…depending on who the guard might be that day. Looking for easier access? Try South Shore Beach on the...
