The setting is a ten, views are special. The nightly fee would suggest a four star and it is more of a two (maybe a three) for their lovely staff. A partially renovated ( only in “barn”)old historic stone house converted to a mess of different size awkward rooms in main House and renovated Motel 6 type level rooms in their “ barn”. Given they are only game in town they can afford to raise rates substantially, the view and proximity to shorelines are great, down right beautiful but it is criminal what they are charging even if you can because it indicates a different experience. No question, the nice staff makes up partially for the lack of amenities and the dreary dated and musty rooms; but they can do only so much. The main house is laden with heavily stucco walls painted and repainted in a drab color, the stairs are extremely steep ( dangerous and circular) and creaky. The rooms have very old commercial carpet and the airconditioning is marginal. We tripped their system four times and our room could not get below 75 degrees at night. It finally just stopped working in the evening and there was no one there to attend to the issue. The furniture is old and the quality of a Bobs warehouse, not an elegant hotel. In fairness the bathrooms have been renovated in a home depot or ikea quality with deep tubs that would be impossible or dangerous to manage for an older person. They are clean.||||The beds are low and believed to be foam the furniture is very low grade made solely of partical board not real wood. Their pillows are old and very large, old stuff and hard to sleep on.... There are no overhead lights in bedrooms. The florecent lights along with huge exit neon signs create a terrible atmosphere in hallways on the interior of the room. There was no fan in bathrooms. No proper closet only a cut out in hall with an old burgundy and gold curtain containing a bar and a fan and a ironing board. Awkward .||||The breakfast were thorough and what you might see at a comfort inn. Hard boiled eggs small, box cereal and yoplait yogurts. The pluses were the cold bottles of water in the lobby along with the hot croissants. Sadly the coffee was weak bit plentiful and other options are 20 mins away.||||It's a bit of a catch 22 and they know it. If you need to be near Little Compton you don't have an option but to rent a house.. I don't think they should take such egregious advantage unless they renovate and get better amenities like farm to table foods, bath goods from a higher brand than cvs, replace commercial dirty carpets, Paint everything, easier access to rooms aka new stairs, closets installed in bedrooms, airconditioning that works.||If you book stay the barn is cleaner and more up to date. Area rugs were purchased in the last ten years let's say and overall more open clean and comfortable. Their suites run 1000 and their room 500 and not what you would expect for that pricing. A missed opportunity for a great hotelier to make this location a real find with proper protocols and level of service for their rates. The views are a ten the outside chairs are their best feature but you can't sleep there.||I look forward to the owners putting some of their profits into a major renovation. I would...

Read moreDO NOT HAVE YOUR WEDDING THERE!!! The management at Ocean Cliff/Stone House are unprofessional and basically lied to us about the ending time of our wedding. We got married this past July and our wedding was supposed to end at 10:00pm per our contract and because of the sound ordinance in Little Compton they told us the day before that we had to cut our wedding short an hour…so thats an hour of our reception time paid, our band time paid, our guests time and what an embarrassment when they told me the police were coming because a neighbor called. When they were in litigation with the Town of Little Compton, no one told us that this was going to be a problem. I have emails with us asking them and they confirmed with us over and over that we could end the wedding at 10:00pm no problem. Not only did they lie to us about that, but on our wedding day it took over an hour for our guests to receive their food (84 guests) and it was cold, my husband and I didn't get to have any of the 5 hors d'oeurves because they were thrown out by the time we got back from taking pictures, some guests weren't served cake because they were not in their seats (maybe dancing)… I have never had such poor service from upper management from such a large and well known company. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will continue to let people know our story. Since then, not one person has taken responsibility for the major screw up that besides just apologies. Apologies doesn't cut it when your spending thousands of dollars on your one special...
