“A Park Above” is the most dynamic park in those that I have seen in the greater Albuquerque metroplex. It is a relatively long, narrow park that is oriented east to west with parking on the south side, which makes it fairly easy to access . . . unless there are so many eager families there, as often happens in warmer weather.
If you have children, “A Park Above” offers a lot for them to explore. What I and no doubt many others appreciate is that there are plenty of shade structures to give relief from the heat of the Sun’s summer rays.
If you have a dog or two or . . . there is dog park with two divided sections (presumably, the eastern half is for smaller dogs and the western is for larger) on the far western side of the park complex. It, too, has shade over the sitting area for the dogs’ humans to patiently wait for their dogs to absorb all of the enchanting dog “smells” (ick!
Read moreAwesome park for traveling families to stretch their legs. About a 15m drive off the main highway but well worth it. Great park with something for everyone in the family.
The park was very clean and well kept.
There were restrooms but we didn't use them.
For those with littles, it looked like the entire park was enclosed. And off a main street in a neighborhood. So no worries of a busy street in an unfamiliar area.
There were also several restraunts within a few minutes of the park if you wanted to pack a lunch amd enjoy one of the numerous shaded tables in the enclosed park.
Tons of benches and chairs.
Nice sidewalks insure the enclosed area to walk.
There was a basketball court for my teen.
One side of the park was a bit geared toward younger children. But my 10yr stilled enjoyed that area and the older area.
There was a small clean dog park.
There was a bocce ball court with the friendliest group of senior couples who let us watch in on their game. They explained the rules to us as we laughed and chatted.
There was a nice...
Read moreI have been here before once during the winter, but going in the summer added another dimension of fun by having a splash park available for everyone to use. The park itself could use a bit of maintenance: the splash pad has a low flow issues on some of the water outlets, and the music area has a few missing pieces (the biggest bongo drum is broken on top and the bells do not have the hammer anymore). There was also a bit of wear on some of the areas with moving parts (like the four person see-saw which had a bump under the astro turf that caused my husband to accidentally get his foot squished). Aside from these minor issues, the accomodations at this park are pretty great. Many of the areas are wheelchair accessible and so is most of the equipment. It's too hot to climb on most of the areas at the moment, but they will provide hours of fun in the winter. They have covered areas with shade, water fountains for drinking and plenty of places for people to sit and...
