Not great for a two-year-old. It appears that the boys, guessing them to be between 7 - 10, were having a blast, though. I found the compact design of the dual-purpose stair on top/monkey bars below feature to be thoughtful, though I'm not sure why they were concerned about having a compact playground at the Cabezon Community Center. . . There is so much grassy open space (they could have sacrificed a little more for a slightly bigger playground) but it's great for family picnics and kicking around a ball, flying the kites, etc; intramural sports (adult rugby practice was on-going while we were here). There are several picnic tables with post-grills as well as a roofed event picnicking area. It looks like there is a sidewalk walking trail that some women with a child in a stroller were enjoying. Of course, there is also the indoor pool. However, if you have children under 3, even an adventurous, brave 2 found the playground rather daunting. The tiny set designed for 2-5 year old children is a single slide, although it does have two climbing options, drums and bells for making noise, it's not nearly as interesting for the child as the 5-12 structure is. With 3 slides of different colors, at least 3 stair/ladder options and other visually appealing features, the "big kid" play area is exciting. Yet, the smallest slide has a large drop from the slide to the ground (approx. 2 ft.) . . . Interestingly, it's a double with one half smooth and the other ridged (presumably to ease the speed). The stairs are made of plastic, so that was unusual thing to explore, but at the top it's higher than any other park we've been to so far. The largest slide is really fast and bumpy. There was another family with two children under 5 that found it to be "scary" for the younger child to go alone. My child concurs. I went with my child on my lap the second time and also realized how "intense" it is (I can imagine it to be like the feeling of going down the Black Hole for the first time, when The Beach was still around). We didn't try the mid-sized slide, but it appeared to provide a similar experience as...
Read moreThis is a halfway decent park with potential upside. This park at the time of inspection appeared halfway completed. For starters, beware of sprinkler pot holes in the field (Liability101). Where are the sprinkler surface covers to prevent ankle injuries ? In addition, it appears there should be more activity stations for your buck wild kids. Furthermore, this park lacks shade for your summer outing. Trees aren't expensive, Einsteins.👉😵💫👈 However, this is now typical here in the land of mixed nuts. This was a strange decision when first envisioned. The City of Vision should attempt to apply both eyes in their micromanaged assessment. Basically, put down the fork and bring your brain to work narshole.🫵🤔 Lastly, this shade addition would deem this location closer to completed.🥱 Pest control...
Read moreBeautiful medium sized park, nice sized/layout parking, shade, picnic tables, playground, dog park with two fenced areas... big enough for the doggies to get a good stretch ☀️ I'm not sure if there are any restroom facilities. I was here to complete a marketplace transaction. I didn't get out and walk around, however I could see that the park was nicely laid out and has a spacious feeling with the way the park was planned. I stayed awhile in the parking lot writing and soaking up the sunshine with the sounds of happy children and pups as my background music.☀️ Thank you Rio Rancho, this humble traveler enjoyed...
