A fantastic public park for many activities; walking, running, biking, fishing, family gathering and golf, just to name a few. There are two large playgrounds on opposite sides of the smaller lake (Fairmount Lake) which are great families with small children. The larger lake (Lake Evans) is lined by magnificent Cypress trees with a great walking path that will take you around the entire lake, perfect for a casual walk or run. The Santa Ana River trail goes through this park so you could park here and catch the trail at this point if you wish. Ample picnic tables and benches throughout the park provide plenty of resting and eating areas. It can get busy on the weekends, especially during the summer months, with many events, such as car shows and concert events. You can rent paddle boats during the summer months, located at the boat house. Which offers a great way to see the park from a different perspective. There is a great rose garden that is used often for photo shoots, but I'm not sure if a permit is required or not. I visit the park primarily during the early mornings before it gets crowded, for landscape and bird photography. A variety of ducks and other water birds are present year around. The public restrooms are not great but are available on either side of the park. Overall, a good open space in...
Read moreBeautiful historical park with 2 lakes, 4+ playgrounds for kids, a plethora of beautiful Oak trees, Yarwood trees, pines, and many other species of trees that provide nice shade all throughout the park. There is a boathouse that offers paddle boats during the warmer months, fishing, sailing lessons, a beautifully kept rose garden with seating and a gazebo, great place to picnic, take the kids to play, get your walk on around the lakes, free summer music, and year round functions that take place in the park. Lot's of ducks and geese to see and feed. Wish that there were feed stands to purchase healthy food for the ducks and geese for about 50 cents, because all the bread that people are feeding them are causing an illness that deformes their wings, so if you want to feed them I suggest purchasing a small bag of duck and geese food for them. They will love it and you will have fun & enjoy feeding them.
The only thing I dislike about the park is, I wish the lakes were cleaned of tradh and debris often.
Please folks, when visiting this beautiful and historical park, don't forget to place all trash in the proper trash cans, pick up after your 4 legged fur babies, and PLEASE for the sake of the ducks and geese, do NOT leave any fishing hooks or fishing line left behind...
Read moreFairmount Park in Riverside is hands down one of my favorite spots in the IE. It’s such a versatile space with so many areas to explore, making every visit feel a little different. I’ve come here to record content, attend car shows, take walks with my dogs and dad, and spend time with friends and family. It’s a hidden gem, especially for people who might not be familiar with Riverside.
What I love most about this park is the variety it offers. From peaceful walks by the water to the island of palm trees and the lush nature all around, there’s always something beautiful to take in. It’s a perfect spot for slowing down and enjoying the outdoors.
Of course, like any large park, it’s important to be mindful of your surroundings. There are a lot of tucked-away areas and cutouts, so I recommend visiting during the day when it feels safer. With a little awareness, you can fully enjoy everything this park has to offer.
If you’re looking for a place to relax, explore nature, or even attend community events, I highly recommend checking out Fairmount Park. It’s a great escape and a wonderful representation of...
