The Wind River Heritage Center is a must-see when you're in Riverton, Wyoming! It offers a fantastic exhibition showcasing the significant animals that have inhabited the area over the past century and continue to do so today. You'll find captivating information about the city's history and traditions, as well as insights into the life of Jake, the last mountain man. The center also features a Waxcaninet exhibit, depicting stories and individuals from pioneer times. The collection includes paintings, old books, and intriguing facts that enrich the experience. It doesn't seem like much from the outside, but it was amazing! Jacob did a good job of telling us about the animals and I was surprised to learn quite a few things. Then Harold gave us a tour of the rest. He was awesome! We asked tons of questions and he always had insightful answers. He knew what he was talking about and gave us lots to think about. The Wind River Heritage center is a wonderful historical place to bring the family and see and learn about some of the history around our area. They have many animal mounts and traps to see from a true mountain man, Mr. Jake correll.
