12/20/2018 I went to my 5 week color appointment with Lisa where she applied my color on roots. After 40 minutes, Lisa had Niama wash color out of my hair when time was up. Then after shampoo and conditioner, Lisa asked Niama to brush my hair out before Lisa would put me under the dryer to prepare for flat ironing my hair. Naima went searching for a wet brush. I asked if the brushes are sterilized after every use bc the brush she was going to use still had hair in it. She went to Lisa and told her what I said. Then Lisa sent Naima back with a comb. Lisa has always told me to never use a comb on my hair, wet or dry. Then Naima pulled hair out of the wet brush, not my hair, and brushed my hair. Next, Lisa came over to me and I quietly asked the same questions about clean brushes and showed concern for use of combs, as she had educated me in the past. With that being said, Lisa said that our relationship is different now and today was the last day she was going to do my hair. She then warned me, if I get rude about it, she’ll stop right now with my hair wet and undone.i felt threatened by Lisa. I have been loyal and complimentary to Lisa for over 8 years, every 5 weeks, 20% tip always.I stayed with her and supported her through her rough times. I feel if I was fired because I had the nerve to ask if brushes were cleaned on a regular basis, then there is something to hide. Lice is prevalent in FL. Fortunately I have never contracted lice, but I do go home every time after service with my head itching. I think Lisa could have handled it differently. She said I was not welcome there anymore in front of all the other clients. I was not loud or obnoxious . I think she could have handled it differently and did not have to kick me out of her client base bc I asked if brushes were sterilized. Oh BTW, per Lisa, they are not and combs that dig into the scalp are only sterilized at the end of the day. Is this normal? Does the health Dept need to visit City Salon? I’m appalled at Lisa’s decision to fire me as a long...
Read moreWAY. TOO. SHORT. I made an appointment at City Salon based on the good reviews here. Well, I went this week at the appointed time and the hairdresser they put me with wasn't even there yet. She came in late. I merely wanted a trim. After losing my hair last year because of surgery and wicked meds, when my hair came back I got a very good cut in Lakeland. Now since it was losing it's shape I decided to get it done here in Sun City Center. The hairdresser seemed inexperienced and unsure of herself. Not only did she cut it too short but there is no shape. She just did a straight cut. Then I let her style it just to see what in the world she was going to do with it. Instead of using a curling iron on my straight hair, she used a straightener. I don't feel too bad giving a negative review here because I overheard another hairdresser saying she wished they weren't so...
Read moreMy daughter in law had an appointment scheduled, but they changed it on her without telling her. She verified twice, my son even hearing the appointment being made since they were on speaker on the call. We go in (they advertise they also do walk-ins), tell her she’s late, even asked to see the text to verify her appointment, that also did not show the appointment time. Then they say they cannot do her hair because she’s late. But yet there’s stylists sitting around doing nothing. Not only did they lose my daughter in law as a client, but me as well. I was going to be doing color on my hair, but seeing their professionalism, we both will be finding another salon. If this is how they do business, not my kind of place to go....
