A nice, easy-access escape for the surrounding neighborhoods, but if you're driving, there are better options. The dog park is a bit small and bare, and the fencing looks half-hearted. Easy walk on the paved trail, but nearly all the unpaved trails are just short paths into adjacent neighborhoods. The only 2 lengthy unpaved trails are one that runs parallel to the pavement and is very clearly made for mountain bikes (some nice jumps, photo below of the most impressive group), the other starts where the paved trail ends but quickly turns into a glorified deer trail that's fairly overgrown (see photo). Not bad for a quick walk, so still 3 stars, but the Twin City area has tons of better...
Read moreWhen I moved to Robbinsdale I wasn't immediately sold on Sochacki Park. It seemed too urban and after trail running along the Minnesota River Refuge for three years I longed to feel like I was running in the wild. Sochacki has the feel of being in nature even though its right outside of Minneapolis. I was worried that its trails were too short and would become too repetitive. That's hardly the case now that I've discovered that they connect to Theodore Wirth and Victory Memorial Parkways. My wife and daughter enjoy taking our dog to the park to socialize and everyone there has been really kind. Bonus points for the older gentleman who walks his dog in the evenings and...
Read morePretty nice little park - visited today for the first time. I liked the dirt trail by the water better than the paved path, but if you liked paved they've got it! As a newbie it is a little confusing how far the trail goes, it's like hiking in a pretty much straight line for a long time - at some point you just need to turn around to get back to your car! So I didn't walk the whole thing yet not knowing where the trail ended. (Did not see any trail maps to help there). The only other bummer was one guy letting his dog run off leash where it definitely should have been on leash. There's one in every...
