I wish I could rate this hospital a 0 instead of 1 star. But I'll give the real the bad and the ugly of this hospital. My uncle who was mentally disabled and in a wheelchair came here a couple times to get treated. (Unfortunately due to it being close to his house) he was in the ICU about a month here and it was nothing but hell. When it came to talking about palliative care and end of life treatment the staff was very aggressive and none compassionate at all. Daniella G Dean being one of them, with The respiratory nurse Meghan K dunning. (I remember their names so vividly because of how cold and un compassionate they were through the experience). We had specifically asked to avoid asking my uncle questions like "Do you want to keep living?" As he was experiencing a very high heart rate while he was fighting off his infection intubated in the ICU. We wanted to avoid causing him more anxiety and distress because he was mentally disabled (you could say he was an 8 year old in a 45 year old body) we thought the staff would be compassionate about it as they said they would. But one day when he was not doing so well, he was off sedation and under distress with pain (heart rate at 140) Meghan K Dunning the respiratory nurse practitioner asks him when we were not present "Do you want to keep living Jose?" Which to he of course said YES, cause mentally he didn't understand what was happening. I saw all of this in the staff notes because I was in charge of his my chart, while he was in the hospital.
When I met with the nurse practitioner Meghan K Dunning and asked her why she would ask him that when we prohibited it, she said "He's my patient and I will ask him while he's under my care" having no respect for him or his family's wishes and to add to that she also stated that she would ask an 8year old dying patient without his parents being present the same thing. (Mind you a child in MN can't make decisions like these under the age of 16). She also lied about him being sedated that morning to save her ass, when his morning nurse had confirmed he was indeed NOT sedated. (Meghan K Dunning is extremely cold and has no empathy, I don't know how she works with patients as this is NOT the first time people have had issues with her care)
Not just that the ICU staff, immediately cut my access to his my chart records after confronting Meghan K dunning about the type of care she was providing my uncle. I called North Memorial IT and they confirmed the hospital staff had cut me access, I tried speaking with his social worker at the time about how unfair and spiteful Meghan k was being and she said "I can think of many reasons why they cut you access yes, and you can't have my proxy because your uncle is disabled and can't sign".
Long story short this hospital took advantage of the fact that my family had no guardianship over my uncle, cut off access to his medical records for us because I questioned the type of care his nurse practitioner was providing. I accused her of being a racist and that is exactly what she is, and with her power trip she decided to cut us off completely from his records. (which is extremely suspicious of a hospital to do so)
Not just that His social worker, Christy A & Meghan K Dunning cut me off completely from being contacted by the hospital saying "I quickly escalated and was angry" & "I was upset and yelling obscenities" and only my other family was kept in touch with communication because I questioned the type of nurse Meghan K Dunning was.
Unfortunately my uncle has since then passed and I waited to leave this review because I was scared of the hospital staff doing something to him while he was under their care. Just because he was so ill and they wanted to remove him off life support that I was so untrusting of the hospital after having that experience with Meghan K Dunning. My uncle did agree that he did not like the care Meghan K dunning was providing him and gave him anxiety when she was around. Even when she worked at Fairview, in neurology her patients felt...
Read moreWhere do I beginâŚNorth Memorial ER in Robbinsdale is outdated, dirty, and all around terrible. There was someone sitting in the waiting area barfing their brains outâŚloud, crying, in tons of pain and no one did anything. This person sat in the waiting room for a long time. People had to sit with this person and others were getting sick hearing it. The waiting area is dirty. Itâs outdated. I questioned the care I was receiving based on this. I was a little scared. I needed X-rays, that area was also dirty and outdated, the person doing the X-rays wasnât careful or gentle with me. I had 2 sprained ankles and they were tossing me around not being empathetic to my injuries. Itâs a vibe there, the staff seems miserable and unhappy and that reflects on the care and cleanliness there. That makes me think, hmmmm, how does that hospital treat their late night ER staff? ITS A VIBE. Clean your hospital, take care of your staff N Memorial!
Thereâs no parking, you have to pay.
I could barely walk, there was one broken dirty wheelchair at the front I sat in to get myself into the hospital. The foot holders wouldnât go down so I had to hold my sprained ankles up while I wheeled myself. Finally someone helped me when it was my turn. I asked for a better wheelchair and the nurse blew me off and said they didnât have any more. I know this isnât standard, but Iâm saying it anywayâŚNo one gave me pricing to think about to help decide what to do based on my injuries. I couldnât wait to leave that hospital it was a traumatic experience. Now itâs been a month so of course Iâm starting to get the bills. Be WARNED, billing is awful. I received an initial bill from north memorial after my insurance was processedâŚyep, paid putting this behind me so I donât have to think about it. Then I received another bill from another company saying it was from that visit. Then I received a text weeks later saying I had another bill through another company saying it was from that visit as well. No break down, no clarity on what or why. I had X-rays on both ankles, crutches, doctor saw me, and I received Ibuprofen. I have had so far 3 different bills for 1 ER visit which have totaled almost $2,000. With insurance being processed itâs at $1,200 out of pocket as of today (who knows how many other random texts and emails I will get lol) No breakdown, no clarity on what Iâm paying for from these random companies. I donât understand how any of this is okay or legal???
The state the ER is inâŚsad staffâŚ..for how much they chargeâŚ..itâs dirty and grossâŚ.I will NEVER go to North Memorial ever again. I feel scammed and traumatized from the minute I stepped into the hospital and still to this day getting the weird bills. Did north memorial get hacked and Iâm getting bills from scam companies? Is it legit? Who knows. And if they are sourcing to different companies I understand this but why the random bills from different companies and not through north memorial. Itâs so messed up!
I reached out to north memorial to clarify the bills, no word back. God forbid I call, Iâll have to wait for hours to talk to someone. lol
We deserve better healthcare and healthcare services yaâll!! If youâre not rich, you pay the most and get the worst.
Now I have to write this crappy review, wasting more of my time.
I wish I could give 0 stars.
Positive: The doctor and the nurse to the doctor were nice and were quick to diagnose and help me when I was in a room. There was a women who was at the help desk, she was lovely...
Read moreWas physically abused by this hospital's staff: I was sent to the hospital for symptoms of a bacterial infection that was likely contracted from other residents living in group housing with identical symptoms (many of whom were diagnosed by their medical doctors with, and treated for, a bacterial infection). Symptoms included, but were not limited to: Severe general malaise, severe inner ear pain with a palpable abscess behind the right ear lobule, severely swollen neck glands with remarkably inflamed palatine tonsils, epistaxis (nosebleed), discolored translucent nasal discharge, a severe productive cough with discolored translucent phlegm, dyspnea (shortness of breath) and a severe itching sensation in the respiratory tract beginning at the trachea and extending at least into the middle lobes of both lungs. I was given a rapid streptococcus throat swab, which is a simple antigen detection test, not an actual bacterial culture test of any kind. The rapid simplistic test returned negative for streptococcus bacteria. Despite being the only diagnostic measure used, I was immediately and abruptly discharged in a wheelchair without any additional testing and without receiving any treatment of any kind, even symptomatic treatment. Due to severe malaise and a severe and sudden muscle cramp which occurred in my lumbar support area of my back (a chronic condition which I am diagnosed with and prescribed medication for), I slid off the wheelchair which I was forcefully placed into onto the floor. The hospital staff (including nurses) demanded that I "get up" and I clearly and respectfully explained to them that I could not move my back without excruciating pain. I was repeatedly told by the hospital staff that I was "faking" my symptoms because I was able to move earlier and they proceeded to violently lift me off the floor by my clothing. As I screamed in agony, I begged them to stop manipulating my back. I eventually realized they were not going to stop and that I was going to have to deal with the torture until I got into a safe position where they were unable to continue to attempt to physically and forcefully manipulate my back and simply pleaded with them to send me back to the facility I came from by ambulance on a stretcher as I was when I was brought to the hospital. Upon returning to the facility I was sent from, I was bedridden for two days in a fetal position and had to take my prescribed medication for this indication (tizanidine) at the maximum prescribed dose and frequency in order to help me recover from the physical abuse I suffered at this hospital. I am in absolute and utter disbelief that a licensed hospital in The United States of America could and would act in such a medically negligent and behaviorally detestable manner...
