Made a great addition to visiting the Fontana dam so I could cross off a bucket list item. Beware, the first 3 miles are going up from the parking lot. The first 1.33 miles has an elevation gain of nearly 1060 feet. No technical climbing or anything required but people in good cardiovascular conditioning will find sections of this trail challenging for the first 3 miles. I hiked just over a mile then came back. Wanted to get to the fire tower, but didn’t have time. That’s probably a 3 hour hike to it one way.
