Today we visited Van Hoosen Farm for the annual train show which comes around each Christmas presented by Stoney Creek Model Railroad Club.  The tickets for the show were very reasonable and also allowed my wife and I to visit the museum.

The modules were amazing and each module told a story while a variety of HO trains went around the display.

A few of the modules were an airport, a farm market a winter scene, steam engine repair facility and a drive in movie theater.

All of the staff from Stoney Creek Model Railroad Club were very helpful with answering questions and providing information about model railroading.

From the barn where the trains were, we went into the museum and toured the farm through history and the staff at the museum were very helpful and pleasant to talk with.

Definitely will be back...

I WAS THERE AT VAN HOOSEN FOR A FEW MINUTES ON SATURDAY AUGUST 9TH, THIS YEAR, 2025, DURING A VERY SPECIAL PERSONAL COMMEMORATIVE TRIP THAT I MADE BACK TO THE LAND OF MY YOUTH, WHICH IS THE GREATER OAKLAND COUNTY AND GREATER ROCHESTER AREA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE WERE ONLY IN THE AREA FOR A FEW DAYS, AND EVEN THOUGH WE DID NOT TAKE THE TIME TO GO THROUGH THIS MUSEUM PER SE, I CAN GUARANTEE THAT WHEN AND IF I AM EVER THERE AGAIN, I WILL GO THROUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SWEETEST LITTLE HISTORICAL VILLAGE AND MUSEUM COMPLEX FOR LOCAL HISTORY THAT COULD EVER EXIST ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TAKE IT IN, LIKE I WILL WHEN I EVER GET BACK...

Specific to the model train the place hosts every year in december, its such a wonderful experience. They offer the remote control to kids, to control the trains on their own terms. The group of expert railroad modelers also explain the intricacies. The modules are named and there is a 'story behind the setting' which is very entertaining to read. Example there was a truck stuck under a low clearance bridge. A cop pulled someone. There was a live music cafe, running a car show. It was absolute delight to spend 2 hours. The entrance fee is very nominal at $5 for adults and...

My daughter had her wedding here and it was beautiful. They have a place for the bride to get ready before the ceremony. The ceremony was held in front of a gazebo. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. They have a small stream with a bridge. Everything was magical... it was so beautiful. Afterward, the reception was held in their barn. It is a bit small, but we had 100+ people and made it work. Overall, both the bride and groom were super happy with their day. BTW, we had AMAZING weather, which made it extra special.
