As of 3-8-25, this place is pathetic. First of all, the wall of guns is gone, which makes going into pointless. It should just be called Rock Island Muesem, because there is no large Arsenal. It's also kinda disgraceful to make it "modern" for people, since 1903 they were building it up, only to get rid of it all to make it "modern".

Do not come here, you're wasting your time. This is also sad if you consider that this place is supposed to be a memorial muesem for John Moses Browning, the legend himself; by doing this, they tainted the memorial of the Arsenal,...

If you're looking for a look back in time to the History of the Arsenal you'll see this and much more. It's one of the many historical site on the Arsenal, take the time to visit them all you'll not be disappoint. If you're a hand gun / long rifle history buff you are not going to find a better display then one you'll find at the museum. There is a very nice display of WWII Equipment not very far from the Museum that is well worth your time, the folks at the museum desk can point you in the right direction. You may already past it on you way...

Really great historical military museum. They have some awesome artifacts like General Buford's sword and a rifle from Little Big Horn. Some interactive items would be great, and the museum agrees. I spoke with volunteers, and they told me that was their next project.

This is an important Army base, and the museum and base static displays do the base proud. It's definitely a good stop if you...

First visit since childhood. The recent renovation definitely changed the look and feel of the museum. Really enjoyed the Mk. VIII Liberty tank display, to bad the interior couldn't be displayed. Only thing I would change is having the Atomic Cannon display closer to the museum. Free parking and free entry, but you must get a visitors pass to get on to Arsenal Island to visit.

The museum is fine for what's there. The army released a memo about closing museums, so I wanted to visit before they closed it. That must've been much earlier in the making because 90% of what's in the old photos is gone. It's a very streamlined, modern, sterile, dark room that takes 10 minutes to walkthrough. You won't need chairs or benches, you won't be there long enough.

I can't say enough about this amazing museum and the expertly knowledgeable staff that operate it. I was fortunate enough to have kevin and jeff as a guide. They provided us with immense details and back story's that added a lot of character. If I remember correctly they are going to expand the museum and add more items. I'm definitely looking forward to returning again.
