This is an open air theater. This means the outside temperature is the temperature of the theater so you must dress appropriately. There is a roof that can open so rain or snow is not generally an issue. The sound system is adequate but I have struggled to hear some dialogue. The location is very safe and parking is excellent and free. Concessions are on site so snack food and beverages are available. Restrooms are fairly large but you will likely be in a short line at intermission. This theater is as good as any outdoor theater and the roof makes it better than many others.

This theater is one of the many gems of Rockford. On warm clear summer nights, they will open the roof of this theater and you can see the stars twinkle above the crowd. I have seen at least 3 shows here, and all of them have been simply amazing. The sets are very polished/creative, the costumes are uniformly beautiful, and the actors are all very talented! I can't wait for the next show!

I went there to see Grease and boy I wasn't disappointed! The cast was great, the direction was great, the music was great. The theatre in itself is just amazing, and I had enough space for my legs (I'm tall), which was a nice surprise. I wouldn't recommend watching performances during the winter, though! ๐Ÿ˜†

Great production, very enjoyable show! Nice volunteers and staff. Amazing talent on the stage!! Terrible plan for inclement weather. Saw Legally Blonde last night and a storm started rolling in around 10 minutes into act 2. The lightning and thunder were getting close and everyone around us was more focused on that rather than the show. They waited until the storm even heavier and had closer lightning and a down pour to call the show. When calling it they said thereโ€™s about 10 minutes before it gets even worse. Exiting was awful and it created an incredibly unsafe experience for all, but especially elderly and disabled guests. They should have called the show to ensure the safety of all once lightning entered the immediate area. I understand they want to perform in all weather, but I think there needs to be improvement in place for planning around...

I went to see Jane ayre on Wednesday night. I was hoping that it was going to be a good production and i don't know Mike Webb had retired until i got there. So, it ended up being the most disappointing production i have seen at starlight. The music seemed to have the same melodies, there voices didn't harmonize, the techs were continually mistiming the mics, sounded like the older Jane ayre was screaming instead of singing, the way the props were put on stage was very distracting, the stage wasn't that good, and they didn't have any British accents like they should have. I could continue with the problems i saw but those were the main ones. Was so bad i left after the first act because i couldn't stand how terrible the play had been. I don't know if this is how the new producer is or if it's...

Just came home from seeing Newsies. I have to say that it blew me away. I had never been to a production at Starlight Theatre and this will not be my last! Having moved here from New England the production reminded me of summer stock theatre there. Small audience, home grown talent and production etc. The actors loved their roles and enjoyed performing, you could see it in their faces. The singing, dancing and acting was excellent. The props, music, and lighting were very well done. It took me away from all the issues in the world, and for tonight, I was in New York (good accents) with Jack and Davy and Elmer and Brooklyn! and Miss Medda (what a voice) rooting for the Newsies to win. Thank you for a...
