I walked in expecting sea breezes and got exactly that and more. The walkway curves over marsh grasses with boats drifting by, and I swear I half expected to see a crab scuttle out from underfoot when the tide changed. The fishing folks here looked like they’d done this forever and offered me tips on a stray cast I made, which felt genuine—not touristy. It is a quiet sort of beauty, where you lean on a railing and let the salt air reset you. I did wish the benches were softer though, because after walking for more than an hour my muscles needed a better cradle.
When the sun started to hang low on the horizon the colors turned peach in the sky and copper in the water. I ducked into a small café afterward where shrimp and hushpuppies hit the spot nearly as much as the view did. It wasn’t crowded even though I’m sure it gets busy later. Watch for cars as this location of the Chattahoochee has many amenities for outdoor activities like water sport rentals, picnic shelters, and a special events venue. If it’s a weird hour don’t go alone or carry protection. Also there is water hemlock all over the place also hanging over the trails…it’s not wild carrot and is highly poisonous if ingested so do not touch and definitely do not eat it! The Chattahoochee Nature Center is about halfway along the trail. Very much worth a visit, go to enjoy nature’s beauty just respect it and always be aware of...

From Riverside Underpass to Willeo Park, this trail goes past boat docks for fishing and water sports, pavilions for picnics, playgrounds for children, St. Andrew Catholic Church, Chattahoochee Nature Center, many upscale homes, and I kid you not a redneck yacht club (private property)!
