On the spur of the moment we decided that we wanted to rent a boat. We had never rented one before so we weren’t familiar with some of the restrictions (early departures or advance reservations for certain trips etc.) We called a couple of other places who were unable to accomadate us before getting the helpful people at Lakes End. Not only did they patiently explain the process but they accommodated us even though we would be arriving at an odd hour for rentals. Their prices were the most affordable when compared to other places in the area. They also allowed our puppy aboard which was important for us. Upon arrival we were greeted by Bryan who gave my husband the safety course, explained where we can fish, find restaurants and all the important information of being out on the lake. He even gave me a special life vest as I was a bit trepiditious of the lake’s depth. The boat was very clean and spacious and offered ample sun protection for our group. The boat had an HDMI port so my children could play music from their phones while we were out on the lake. We had such a nice time, we wanted to extend our half day trip. Because we came in later than a full day trip would allow they simply prorated the price and let us stay out on the lake until closing time. It was such a peaceful day. We had lunch and amazing ice cream at Main Lake Deli, swam of the boat which the children loved and fished. It was a an excellent day. I am so sad we found this gem so late in the summer. We will definitely...
Read moreWe rented a pontoon boat over the July 4th weekend. We had five adults. Excellent communication and service from the owner (Dave). When you arrive just park across the street. We picked up our boat and everything was in order. Dave greeted us and we went over the paperwork. Outside at the docks, there was a team and they went through their checklist and showed us how to work everything on the boat. Very helpful.
The boat itself was spotless (I wonder if it was brand new). It worked perfectly. Had a fold-up top (which you should take down if you go under any of the bridges). Bluetooth stereo, comfortable seats, anchor and ladder to get back on. It was a very nice boat.
We spent the full 8-hours on the water (anchored and went swimming, had lunch, toured the entire lake and looked at the nice houses). We did dock at our rental for a bathroom break.
We enjoyed Lake Hopatcong tremendously. Dave is a local, and Lake's End Marina seems to be a terrific local business. Costs were exactly as described. Seems like a very trustworthy business. We do plan to visit the lake again, and I would definitely use Lake's End Marina to rent...
Read moreAvoid at all costs! I would leave a zero if I could- horrible service. Go there if you want to deal with racism and be treated with disrespect for no reason. Even my own parents never spoke to me like those workers and the owner. I prefer to be treated like a human the way I treat others. Rented a boat that was not working well and instead of offering a refund we were given attitude for being a few minutes late bringing the boat back. We even offered for them to keep the security deposit. Meanwhile, the boat kept stopping and was difficult to bring back on time. I’m sure we would’ve been spoken to differently if we were white. It’s sad that people are still treated this way. We calmly and respectfully walked out of there even though we are furious because we were raised to be better than that and won’t stoop to that level. Would never go back and wouldn’t recommend the spot to...
