My first and last time at the beach in 2020. It was also my first time at a Maine beach and I had no idea how clean and serene they were. I guess I'm just used to all the garbage and crowds along the Jersey Shore. The only downside is that parking is a bit pricey, at $20 a pop. But if you are an early bird and can make it there before I think either 8 or 9, then parking is only $5. Since we came on a Tuesday (at around noon), there weren't much people around, which was super nice. The weather for that day was only forecasted at the low 70s with some clouds, but it turned out to be a great beach day. It was warm, but not sweltering. Warm enough to go in the water - but only if you're brave. The water was icy cold. But after a while, you just become numb and don't even notice it (lol). There aren't really any waves but there is a very strong current so you definitely don't want to mess around with that. I never went out further than past my stomach, especially since I don't swim very well. Even just standing there with the water up to my waist, I could feel the currents pulling me. The best part of this beach is that it's only a 20-minute drive from Portland. We were visiting for the week and staying in Downtown, and didn't want to drive far to get to a beach so Ferry Beach was perfect for us. If I lived in the area, I would totally get a season pass.

This is a great place to come by yourself, with a friend, bring your family or take your pet for a walk! *Just, please, pick up after your dog!* There are many walking trails, all clearly marked and labeled for easy access and the novice trail walker. Also, they offer picnic tables, restrooms and beach access during the on-season. Even when the gate is down; people are still welcome to walk the trails at their leisure! Park workers and volunteers kindly ask that you pick up after yourself when using the Park Grounds. Enjoy! *Pictures were taken from Google Images, they are not my photos!*

Ok reading about this place at first I thought too good to be as advertised. First impression was wow nice parking for handicap and regular. Bathrooms were very nice and open during all warmer weather. The path down to beach is very accessible for any wheelchair. Not crowded clean area with a lifeguard stand ( wasn't used while I was here) Many seashells for kids to collect benches to sit on AAA rating from me. Only thing I did see was a very strong riptide but as a seasoned beach goer I know those can happen anywhere. Just keep your eyes peeled.

Nice place to go when you want a little more space on the beach, especially on the weekends. It's always far less crowded here and easy to find a good spot close to the entrance. Outhouses and showers are conveniently located near the parking lots. I like the pathways and looking at the vegetation as you head towards the beach. Horseflys (or green heads as I've heard them called), can be a pain so bring bug spray. There are very small waves here so you'll probably want to leave the boogie board at home.

Ferry Beach is an amazing state park beach in Maine and has light sand, not quite white but close. There is plenty of beach here to enjoy as well as hiking trails and a good walk down Long Pond. There is also a nature center which is very cool, however the nature center was close due to Covid last time I visited the beach. Also the old bench swing at the end of Long Pond has been removed and unfortunately not replaced. Still a great ocean beach!!
