This was our first visit here. It reminds me a lot like Colonial Williamsburg but without being so built up. It is a historically significant place that is spread out over a large property. Much of the property and buildings are connected with a paved path. I am severely limited with my mobility and require a scooter to get around. While I was able to reach most of the property there were quite a few places where the paved path was in poor repair and it was difficult for my scooter to get over.

The ticket price is very reasonable. They have a nice gift shop. There is one part of the property that you need to drive to but it is well worth it. They have a clearly marked map to help. We spent about four hours there and we still didn’t see everything. We will definitely return.

Check the website for events. We happened to go during their Beer Fest and it was a mad house. There were ample bathrooms that are...

This location is absolutly beautiful and has a very rich history. I only drove to Saint Mary's City to pick up someone FF Hickory. It was my first time there and it was raining. So, I didn't get to really explore.

I highly recommend anyone wanting to visit a historic location. The little I do know about this area is it was a former colonial town that was Maryland's first colonial settlement and capital. And it was founded in March 27, 1634. I drove past a very old Church and they are renovating the area but not to where there is road work or anything like that. It's not heavily congested with people (like Annapolis or Baltimore) making it very attractive to walk around. There are some old buildings from many many years ago and fields. I plan on going back to...

What an amazing experience! Beautiful land with knowledgeable historians throughout the property.

I had a great afternoon exploring the Historic City. I was able to walk around the property on the paved pathways and not only see and read about the history of the buildings, but also hear from live historians and some of the locations.

I arrived later in the afternoon and received my ticket at a discounted price ($3.50) compared to the $10 admission fee charged during the day for adults.

I loved learning the history of this area while visiting from out of town. I highly recommend stopping if you can, but do give yourself minimum 2 hours (or more!!) to get through everything. I did miss out on viewing the plantation and a few of the...

Historic St. Mary's City is Maryland's first European settlement (1634) and colonial capital, now a living history museum and archaeological park preserving early American history, including Native American life, colonial settlement, and the roots of democracy, through reconstructed buildings, exhibits, and active digs, offering a unique look at 17th-century life with ongoing archaeological discoveries. #marylandhistory #somd #southernmaryland #americanhistory #philiptamorria
