Coronado Heights 📍KS-4, Falun, KS 67442 An 8 wonder of Kansas Geography! . This Kansas castle was constructed in 1936 as part of a project for the Works Progress Administration and sits upon the southernmost hill in a series of seven known as Coronado Heights. In the 1500s it is believed that Spanish explorer Francisco Vasquez de Coronado visited this location on his grand quest to discover cities of gold, but unfortunately ended his mission after visiting here. (This can be supported by the Spanish artifacts, such as coins and chain mail, that have been found here over the years.) . Coronado heights park is a great piece of Kansas history with beautiful scenery. The location is easy to find with signs leading right to it, so I highly recommend it to anyone passing through that is into history. The only bad thing about the place is that people have left their mark all over the sandstone that is all over the place. There are picnic tables for gatherings and the view...

Been there 7 times. Really can feel the wind in the fall. It is way less green in the fall. There are like two drop edges that one would need to be careful not to fall. Each path in it's circular trail has it's own character. I enjoyed eating at one of the furnaces...

Never in my wildest dreams would I think I could find a castle in the middle of Kansas. Such a treat touring around discovering hiking paths that have sights you will fall in love with. Was a cold day but still enjoyed looking around...
