Some good things about the park: It's fun to watch the ducks/geese Tennis courts Right next to Hurley Park so you have access to pretty walking trails There are trash cans almost everywhere which has helped clean up the park
Bad things: The lake stinks They only have porta potties and there are only two of them and they are both located next to the older children's playground area. - There is no hand washing station. There isn't even hand sanitizer in the potty!!! Between the lake and the porta potties, the whole park smells kind of bad. And we went in January. I don't want to imagine the smell in the summer! One of the handlebars at the older children's playground was broken leaving a sharp metal pipe to stick straight up out of the equipment which could be deadly if fallen on. I don't know how long this is been a problem, but all that's been done about it so far is wrapping caution tape around it. The majority of the equipment at the big kids playground area was too big for my son, so we walked to the Pre-K area. I was very disappointed. There was only one fort like thing to play in and two baby swings. There wasn't even a slide.
Overall, I was really disappointed in this park. I will not be back. I can't justify coming here when Ellis Park is less than 10 minutes away. Ellis Park has a large playground full of brand new, all age friendly, super cool playground equipment. They have actual bathrooms with sinks and soap and they are clean! And, they have frisbee golf which provides a trail to walk around if...

Great job City of Salisbury Recreation Department!!π’ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½π€ΈββοΈ The park is totally restored and looking better than ever. My dog Wrigley and I love it here. The courts and grounds are amazing!! Previous post:
grew up coming to this park. Festivals and tennis, walks and frisbee. Today was the first time back in maybe 5 years. The lake is stagnant now, no water pumping to keep bacteria and mold down. There are still duck that live there. The city asks for you to clean up your dogs waste (if needed) they have the bag dispensers, but no bags. I take my own when I walk my dog. I noticed trash in the stream and on the banks. The water fountain works, I only know because I had to see if there was running water because it's there. I do not use public water fountains. The grass was cut and playground still looked good for people with children. The tennis courts looked ok. Overall, the park needs some cleaning and bring back the lake regulator. Recently, I signed up to be on our action teams here in Salisbury because I purchased a home in the Historic District, which happens to be up the street from the park. This is one subject I will bring up at the first meeting I will attend. It may sound minor, but the park is beautiful, and there are USA Military Memorials with flags flying of all our Armed Forces branches. This is a place Salisbury took to heart. We need to keep it that way. Volunteers are always welcome (per website City of Salisbury) as I signed up for...
Β Β Β Read moreA lot of memories from my child hood. Use to feed the ducks, ride the little train around the tracks. ( thought it was so cool ), played on the play ground, met other kids.. made friends for the day, just had a great time there. My parents and grandma ( at times ) would bring a picnic lunch or grill hot dogs and hamburgers, we would eat, help clean up the area and then when my parents gave us permission to go play, away we would run back to the play ground. I would also fish. Then as a teenager. I would meet friends here and we would throe frisbees or fish.Wow what memories!!! Then when we moved back here ( My husband was Army ) I brought our son to this park..things sure had changed No more train, of course the play ground had changed. Tony and I would feed the ducks, then he would go play with other kids until he was tired, then we would go back home. We spent a few hours here. I also took some classes here in the building Now.. 2019.. not much to here for the kids.....
