What a difference a day makes. Came in on Saturday, which was a very busy time, and without our request, received wonderful help from Melanie who qualified needs and helped my daughter and I choose plants for basement. We didn’t have planter pots so Melanie suggested I return to have staff assist in potting. Made a small purchase for my office.

I returned the next day (today, a Sunday) just after opening when not busy and despite 3 customer support on hand and unencumbered I was left standing without engagement. Finally one employee came over to pick up her portable coffee mug. I asked her for help, and was asked back “Aren’t you already being helped?” And she turned to leave. Explaining no I’m not being helped, I then stated my purpose that was here to purchase new plants for these pots I had in front of me. I asked if she knew how to remove calcified deposits from pots. Her reply was “I’m not going to do it.” I explained I didn’t ask her that, I asked how to remove it. She stated she didn’t know. I then asked if anyone else might know. At that point an elderly woman with short grey hair walked up and the person I was speaking with said, “He wants to work with someone else.” ??? Setting me up as already a problem this elderly woman proceeded to address my questions with shortcut answers, demeaning remarks about my pots quality (they were gifts so sentimental for me). And without listening that I already had the proper plants for the environment selected (again thanks to Melanie) I was told on three occasions l should move. Not move the plants to a lighted area, but I should change my personal dwelling. When I commented after this had been stated a third time that she was being highly sarcastic, she told me “They” didn’t need to be spoken to disrespectfully. Apparently pointing out their poor support, snarky comments and behavior is offensive. Walking away from “customer service” I started to pick out my plants, then realized “why pay for mistreatment?” I returned the items selected and will return the wonderful item my daughter and I purchased yesterday and never return to Cactus...

Amazing selection of plants and the quality can’t be beat. Yes it’s over priced, but the many plants I’ve got from them have lasted and has never had any issues. The one fault this place has is their customer service. I have spent a ton of money on my house plants through the years and every single time I’ve been here, I’ve had a horrible costumer service. I come in the morning when it’s not busy and there’s soo many employees working. No one asks if i need help, they walk past me several times without even acknowledging me, no friendly smile or anything! When i finally ask someone for help, they are brief, and unfriendly, acting like i was bugging them. And one time when i checked out after finding my own plants, the cashier asked “did you find everything okay?” I replyed “well not exactly, no one really bothered to help me find what i came here looking for.” And her response was a dull and monotoned “oh sorry about that.” And didn’t offer to ask what exactly i was looking for and try herself to help me. This isn’t just the one time I’ve came here, it’s been about 7 or 8 times. I’ve got to the point where i tell everyone not to come here because of their poor customer service. And others I’ve talked to feel the same way. I get better costumer service at Home Depot and Lowe’s and some of the other plant stores in the valley. Customer service can make or break a business, i suggest the older employees of C&T start being a little more friendly and helpful to...

There truly is no place like Cactus and Tropicals anywhere in the Salt Lake valley! I recently got into plants and decided to I wanted to put together a succulent bowl/pot with a colorful + unique variety of succulents. I started at Cactus and Tropicals and right off the bat I found everything I needed but decided I wanted to shop around and see if there were any other local places with a good selection to be sure I had the most unique succulents. I tried about 5 other stores and nowhere came close to the awesomeness that is Cactus and Tropicals! The staff is super friendly/helpful and they answered all of my questions about plant care and what types of soil/water I would need to give my plants the best life. The shop itself is incredibly beautiful and well maintained, it’s so relaxing, fresh smelling and honestly a space I enjoy spending time in! They have a well organized + large selection of plants for whatever you’re looking for! They also have a decent selection of pots and containers to house your plant friends! I will say that I wish they had a little more color variety but have still found some really beautiful, high quality pots that I will enjoy for years and years! Oh and lastly, I can’t forget to mention the insanely cool koi pond they have outside! My kids absolutely love to stop by the pond so they can say hi to their favorite fishes! Overall I am super impressed with this place and look forward to my next visit! Thanks for being you Cactus...

I am officially done with this place. We had the worst arrangements done in our pots. The moss they used was already dead. They had left spots open where you could still see the plastic pot container, and forgot to put in the clear plastic water catchers under the plants. We had them redo them. We went back three other times, giving them a chance to do better. The last few times, the arrangements have been only so so. This time, the flowes started dying by the next day! I thought, maybe it just needed some water, nope. By the end of the first week, not only is the moss completely dead, but so are ALL of the flowers, with the exception of the calla lilies. Today, we decided to drive across town to go pick up replacement plants so we could re do what we just paid Cactus over $300 to do, only to find a note on the gate saying they were closed for inventory. How about updating your website? (which I went to before deciding to drive across town) We have been coming here for the last 5 years. No longer. The quality has completely deteriorated. So unhappy. I will take my business somewhere else.
