Mitchell's Landing inside Classen-Steubing Ranch park is one of the best and most elaborate playgrounds in San Antonio. It is a newer playground in a pirate theme. There are 3 different jungle gyms with lots of slides. There is a balance beam, lots of freestanding exploration, several seesaws, climbing structures, in ground merry-go-round, and even a Zipline-like swing that fits several kids at once. The playground has a decent sized parking lot with restrooms and a covered picnic area before you get to the playground. I was unimpressed with the bathrooms. They are a bit dark and creepy looking and could have been done better. I think they were going for a log cabin-like look but instead it looks unfinished and dirty. There is a changing table in one of them. There are paved trails for walking next to the playground. A certain percentage of the playground is under sun shades and there is a breeze most of the time but a lot of the play structures get very hot in the sun. There are a few benches for parents to sit scattered around the playground but not enough...
Read moreVery nice park with a lot of open green space, trails, walking paths, baseball fields, very clean restrooms, and soon to open playground.
There's a small parking lot as soon as you turn into the park, but there's a larger parking lot if you follow the road further in.
The walking path is about .75 miles around the loop and takes about 15 minutes at a casual pace. There's a cut-through which connects the two sides of the loop. As of now, there's 2 small trails you can take off from the loop. The Ranch Loop is .73 miles and loops back to the same spot you entered the trail. The Prickly Pear Path is .32 miles and also loops back to the same spot you entered the trail.
The playground is currently under construction, but the design looks great. They are still building different areas, but is already a nice place to come for a walk and enjoy the...
Read moreAbsolutely love this new playground! It’s the perfect spot for kids of all ages to have fun and burn off energy. The equipment is brand new, safe, and thoughtfully designed, with plenty of variety to keep everyone entertained—slides, swings, climbing walls, and even a toddler-friendly area. The layout is spacious, so it never feels crowded, and the soft, padded flooring adds extra peace of mind.
Parents will appreciate the ample seating and shaded areas, plus there’s even a clean restroom nearby (a huge bonus!). The park surrounding the playground is beautifully landscaped, making it a great spot for picnics or just relaxing while the kids play.
It’s clear a lot of thought went into creating this space, and it’s already a hit with families. Highly recommend checking it out—you won’t be...
