Great playground area, partially shaded. There are a few wooden benched tables, otherwise known as classic picnic tables, to relax for a serene chat, but I recommend a visual inspection prior for any possible concerns (just as with any nature-based outing).
Most stand-alone benches provide a limited vantage point for observing child-play and interaction amid the mostly-fence-enclosed playground area, however there is one off by itself that provides a slightly wider vantage. Just be sure to bring a parasol or extra sunscreen to protect from direct light, since it's also the only one without any provided shade. The other three benches are naturally shaded by the trees, so beware if you have any tree allergies, and keep vigil of mosquitos in humid weather or use repellant. It's also important to note that although the area is mostly enclosed by a nice metal fence, it is not gated-off completely from the trail; so, if you have little runners, beware.
Overall, it is a great, updated playground area which I highly recommend visiting. I have yet to venture to the other community areas within the park. There appears to be an enclosed pool area as well as some average-sized play fields for soccer and such, but I haven't had a chance to explore those areas.
There is also an enclosed small-dog park/ training area, picnic tables, and trails leading out from the back of the park (the furthest you can drive with a car). Again, I have yet to fully appreciate all the opportunities, but it is definitely...
Read moreMy family enjoys the back trails here. I used to go running on the main trails, they're pretty decent, but not much shade. There are also a LOT of cyclists, so not that great if you are just leisurely strolling down the sidewalk. When you park you car near the dog park, if you go left, before you hit the main trails, there is a dirt path that runs alongside the creek (sometimes more like a river if we've had recent storms). You won't cross it, you're on the side closest to the lot. There is a trail back there that's nice and quiet, has lots of wildlife to check out, and some pretty decent rock climbing. We scaled the sides of the "cliffs" in some easy to find footholds area. I've seen others out there with actual equipment in the more difficult areas. Obviously if you have children, watch them closely, there are some steep drop offs. This trail is for the more adventurous sort. It leads you to a large clearing with two ponds and low lying trees that makes a good picnic spot. There's adequate birding, but photography is difficult in that area due to the position of the trees and lighting. If you go on the right night, you may get a fairytale like show of thousands of fireflies lighting up the sky. One of our favorite spots to spend an...
Read moreIt was a little tricky getting to the park because I’ve never been there before. When using google maps address to get there it took me past the past. I noticed that using the directions to the dog park was more accurate. Once was all I needed tho to get me there, I’ll never forget. I rented the pavilion there to celebrate my daughter’s birthday trying to do something different. It was a success because our family came out and supported. I loved that the area we were in was quiet. The pavilion was directly next to the dog park. There was a porta potty to use for bathroom purposes which we didn’t use so I can’t tell what state it was in. The mosquitoes I say looked like flying rooster spiders. They were huge and any opportunity to bite they took it. That was the worst. Outside of that it was a great experience. Not sure I’ll do it again but definitely would revisit the park to use the playground which is situated to the front...
