Beautiful and scenic trails. Plenty of shade trees along most of the paved trails. A creek with water runs along the path and in one spot a bridge cross the creek. This park does have some minor problems. The park is close to a highway and for most of the walkways the noise from the cars can be annoying. Another issue is along the creek you can see an inordinate amount of trash. Overall the beautiful nature along the path makes for a relaxing walk or run. Several picnicking tables and benches are available for resting along trail and the open spaces in the park.

I’ve lived in SA a short period but Olmos Basin is my favorite 3 mile trail! Stroller friendly plenty of SHADE. The trail around the soccer fields has a nice breeze. There is also a playground for the kiddos and a restroom that is usually clean. There just hasn’t been soap lol Plenty of picnic tables as well. The creek is a bit littered but the park and trails are clean.

Absolutely love this park. Huge open space to separate yourselves safely during these crazy times in the world. Many nearby shops, restaurants and grocery market. We love to grab breakfast or lunch to-go and pull out our blankets to have picnics in the park. Great area for post-meal walks!

For running: Hard on your knees and too short for long runs. From one trail head to the other and back was about 1.7 miles. The trail is hard-scape. There is traffic noise. Little foot traffic mid-day on a Saturday and mostly shaded. Half of the trail is just open park expanse, rather than tucked inside a more densely forested area.

Other purposes: well-kept scenic park/communal athletic areas. Minimal liter. I saw one water fountain, one restroom, and several sitting areas. Good for walking, dogs, and group events....
