I was looking for a midpoint to meet a teacher friend to give her gifts for teacher appreciation week and my husband suggested this place. We thought about walking after the meeting too so we thought we'd check this place out.

It's a very spacious place and full of shade. There were so many trees to provide the shade. Plenty of parking spaces. Many were out with families to picnic and celebrate Mother's Day. The picnic areas were definitely a good social distance away.

The river had very clear waters and looked pristine. The sad part was seeing the amount of trash by the river banks. Not sure if it was swept there during the rain or if people visiting the park, left the trash. Either way, it was a sad sight to see.

This park has a section for a sports complex. I didn't walk into that area to have a closer look. It's a park to enjoy picnicking with family and friends. I wouldn't really recommend it for walking trails. The only noticeable path I saw was next...

I recently visited Olmos Park in Bexar County and was blown away by its sheer size and numerous amenities! As a dog owner, I was thrilled to discover that the park is dog-friendly, with a dedicated area for our furry friends to run and play.

The park's sprawling grounds offer plenty of space for picnics, barbecues, and outdoor activities. The grilling stations and picnic tables were a lovely touch, allowing us to enjoy a meal al fresco.

What truly sets Olmos Park apart, however, is its commitment to providing a welcoming space for the entire community. Whether you're a dog owner, a nature lover, or simply looking for a peaceful spot to relax, this park has something for everyone.

If you're a Bexar County resident or just visiting the area, do yourself a favor and check out Olmos Park. You won't be...

Great place for all sports, recreational activities, and celebrations. The forest areas surrounding the soccer and baseball fields have fun mountain bike trails from which you can see the cool graffiti on the olmos dam. The fields can be reserved for organized activities, but anyone can use them if they’re empty. There is a fairly long but easy walking/running/biking trail that goes up to the Quarry and loops around the fields (the part around the fields is a little less than 1 mile long). The park includes a playground and many group gathering locations for celebrations well shaded by big trees, and there are usually many families taking advantage of that at once. Never a shortage of parking even though sometimes many people come at once. There is a restroom and water fountain open to the...

Olmos Basin Park is a beautiful, well-maintained green space that truly feels like a hidden gem in the city. The park is clean and peaceful, with stunning, mature trees that provide plenty of shade and add to the overall charm. The walkway offers lovely scenic views—perfect for a relaxing stroll or just enjoying some quiet time outdoors. There's also a cute playground that’s great for kids and a charming little bridge that adds to the park’s character. Whether you're out for a walk, planning a casual photoshoot, or just looking to unwind in nature, this park is a fantastic spot. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet and picturesque escape! Look at some of the beautiful images I was able to capture there! -Lydia with Lydstaphotography

This is a large park with beautiful older trees and lots of shade. There is a creek that runs along the middle of the park near the playground. There are plenty of stone grills with nearby stone picnic tables for people to use. The one bathroom I went into was way too scary for me to let my kids use but at least it's there if an adult needs to use it. I saw some nearby porta pottys which might have been cleaner. My kids loved the little shrub maze next to the playground. Streetlights came on at dusk. I'm looking forward to exploring other parts of this park.

Olmos Basin Park, nice place to go for a walk or run. Very good environment for exercise and picnic. Sometimes problems with trash in Park or on the road, toilets is very dirty and sometimes it locked. I wish City scheduled some cleaning once in a while. Little Creek in Park looks terrible with huge amounts of trash! Update for today, September 1. I'm very disappointed. Little creek full of trash! The trash stack on the big pipe! Very trashed view!
