Easy hike to the top. The signage is confusing and the map located at the start is not helpful either. The hike is easy, has steps. Typically not crowded. There are different paths to reach the top from the Eaton Ave entrance. All will lead you to top in about 15-25 minutes. Usually in less than a mile. The views from the top are amazing 270 degrees from San Francisco to Stanford space dish. Bring a bottle of water on a sunny day and some head protection. The entrance across the road from Big Canyon Park starts off with about 75 stairs (great if you're jogging/running along Brittan Ave and want a little extra). There are a number of small trails and connectors that aren't shown on the map, including a nice trail head where Tramanto Drive connects with Appian Way.

Please make sure you check your pets and yourself regularly for Ticks because in the last month we found two ticks and one caused my dog to have tick paralysis. It can be deadly if the tick is not discovered. The ticks are very very small. Please look sharp and keep you and your pets safe.
Hiking here is steep but lovely and a nice respite from walking on busy streets.
