I love this park I hike here often with the dogs. Please make sure you check your pets and yourself regularly for Ticks because in the last month we found two ticks and one caused my dog to have tick paralysis. It can be deadly if the tick is not discovered. The ticks are very very small. Please look sharp and keep you and your pets safe. Hiking here is steep but lovely and a nice respite from walking on busy streets. Be mindful of the poison oak also. It’s plentiful in some areas like at the Brittan Ave entrance on the steep steps.

Great park between lots of different parts of suburban San Carlos. There are a few different trails, but the center point is a pair of two hilltops that have amazing views looking over the whole Bay Area. On a clear day, you can see all the way from San Francisco to San Jose and all along the East Bay, in addition to getting good views of all of San Carlos and Redwood City. Some of the trails can be steep and muddy, but the vistas and the labyrinth at the top of the taller hill are worth it

Easy hike to the top. The signage is confusing and the map located at the start is not helpful either. The hike is easy, has steps. Typically not crowded. There are different paths to reach the top from the Eaton Ave entrance. All will lead you to top in about 15-25 minutes. Usually in less than a mile. The views from the top are amazing 270 degrees from San Francisco to Stanford space dish. Bring a bottle of water on a sunny day and some head protection. Safe and no issues with dangerous people or wild animals. On a good day, round trip can be completed in just 30 minutes. Bring a binoculars on a clear day to enjoy views. Sadly, not...

Well kept, shaded trails with lots of stairs to help out on the steep parts. The view from the lookout near the Loma Drive entrance is fantastic.

The entrance across the road from Big Canyon Park starts off with about 75 stairs (great if you're jogging/running along Brittan Ave and want a little extra). There are a number of small trails and connectors that aren't shown on the map, including a nice trail head where Tramanto Drive connects with Appian Way.

The only downsides are that the trail itself doesn't offer a ton of great views, and there are a few spots where brush has been cleared and...
