I had a great experience at the Anza-Borrego campsite! I stayed at campsite #66 and it was spacious and not close to other sites. We used four tents [(1) four-person tent, (2) three person tents, and (1) one person tent] and still could have fit more tents in the space.
The site was close to the restroom but not close enough to hear anything. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The closest bathroom had four flushable toilets with ample toilet paper. There are sinks inside each bathroom, and two sinks outside for washing dishes. The water from the faucets were on the cold/warm side.
The only thing that caught me off guard was only one parked car was included in the campsite fee. So, each additional car is $10 each.
Tip: I was here in April and it was hot! For the campsite, I recommend to bring a large umbrella because there's not a lot of shade available. The shelter above the picnic table has gaps where the sun will still shine through. For yourself, bring a hat and...
Read moreFirst time here and I was really impressed at the land. The metal sculptures are really cool and provide a stark contrast to the natural landscape. There is plenty of open space to roam around. I went on a Thursday afternoon, March 31st, and it was pretty empty. I meandered west, towards the hills from the parking lot and found a giant boulder. My Fiancé and I sat on a rock nearby the boulder, looking north towards another set of hills, as the sunset behind us. As my neighbor Betty used to say in Yuma, "When the Mountains turn pink, it's time to drink!" I savored the time with my fiance and we explored each other's lips for a little while on that rock. A short hike back to the parking lot was easy enough, and then we drove to Carlee's, where, well, we headed Betty's advice. :) I am sure it is as hot as Satan's armpits in August here (+120°), but it was a pleasant 87° on this trip, the last day of March. Also, Julian, and a wonderful Dutch Apple Pie, is only about 25-30...
Read moreThis was a blast! The park is super clean the bathrooms are super clean the showers are super clean. All around one of the best campsites I've stayed in a long time there's a sound ordinance from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. and for the most part it's super quiet. When the cloud dissipate there are so many stars and we were there for a meteor shower and we got to see about 5-10 per hour at about 2:00 in the morning. When the moon goes behind the mountains you can actually see a little bit more but for the most part they're faint so only the bigger ones really come across. Camp host was super awesome so we're all of the park rangers I came across. And anyone else we came across was pretty awesome picking up trash and throwing it away and just generally caring for the environment around them. It was a nice change of pace from being in the...
