Great challenging hike. About 2 hours round trip, or closer to 3 if there's snow. If all the snow in Julian has recently melted, the peak can still have plenty of it. As it melts, the water rapidly runs down the steep fire road, which can be hazardous.
Shortest path is the fire road (Lookout Rd) to the top. ~1800 feet elevation gain in 2.5 miles. Hard for first-timers, moderate if seasoned/physically fit.
On a clear day, both the desert and the ocean can easily be seen, and also every mountain below the peak. Due to its elevation, temperatures can be COLD! Wind chill can be well below freezing during winter weather (wear gloves).
Stonewall Peak is a shorter hike with great views, but the views from atop Cuyamaca are better.

I was able to make it up and down in athletic tights, a long sleeve athletic shirt, a Columbia pullover and a windbreaker/ running shell. I had a hat and an ear warmer, but could have used gloves on...
