Lake Murray is located near la mesa, California. It is a nice location with lots of room for walking and having a picnic or a family grilling event. There’s lots of trees and sometimes the sunsets are also nice. I’d say that this place has a lot of people that go here though. There are often bicycles and crying children on the walking path. If youre done with having little ones around, like me, then you might want to avoid the walking path. There are probably exceptions to this rule like when it’s raining or too cold for little ones. It’s not overly bad with having lots of kids around but can be a pain if you’re not into that. I would recommend going around the lake on the grass and checking out the wildlife and birds and ducks. I have seen so many ducks here. Be sure not to feed them bread though – that’s important for sure. I have seen many people feed them bread and that’s so bad. Also, there was once recently a wild bobcat that was running around loose. Not good for kids. I think his name was clyde and he was soon to be captured by some wildlife people. Not sure if that happened. Check...

Check out my photos for details of bait shop store and rentals and boat launch regulations. One thing very good to know is that the concrete boy or girl bathroom building has two more bathrooms around the back!!!!! FOUR TOTAL. That's behind the little store which sells snacks and ice cream too. There are port a potties along the trail too. Lots of parking here. Geese and ducks. Picnic tables and pretty views. Fishing allowed but no swimming or wading or glass bottles. The playground is across the lake and I think a mile walking the trail fyi. Drive to it if you need to it's nearby and the best in San Diego, designed with developmental needs in mind and very well maintained with large grassy areas. This is a great spot for inland fun and exercise.

It was absolutely what a person needs to clear their mind of city clutter and enjoy Mother Goose..I mean nature! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is I wish we could camp there ! It's Free to get in. Beautiful scenery, great place for formal pictures with a collective area of different colorful backgrounds. Picnic areas with BBQs , safe area to walk . I saw many pups there. There are also "fowl play" who are so funny they had me almost in tears with their antics . The lake is so serene. As I ate under a covered area and watched the funny fowl feed, I realized I was at peace and smiling again, as if all my worries had disappeared., and for that moment of Serenity, I'll be coming back for more.
