Lake Murray — Attraction in San Diego

WOW I love the lake All of the lakes here Man created and Natural bodies of water here on the coast are my life. I love the mountains made by them and all the other flows of rain and dew. Thank you for keeping it nice and clean and fun to be there. I love the birds and we all love fishing even though we can't seem to catch many or at all compared to the guy on the left closer to the sand catching many with meal worms moving like crazy on his hook in shallow waters from the dock. We love the hike of 6 miles to and from the front and back to the front in reverse after 3 mile touch down near the water fence. I like the springtime if you are not allergic with me as the flowers are awesome opossums and there are definitely those and squirrels, ducks, trees, boats for rent, fishing things/bait and hooks with cutters or strings and things... $LICENSE FOR FISHING HERE and yes daily or other with a drop station if you make your own print outs just in case the pages were taken already to drop when fishing station is closed. I am amazed at the morning crews that seem to be of mid to senior age and killing the track with sweat as they seem to all go the whole way. I end usually at the hump or dip in the road near the curve if I want a short walk and when I hit that shaded turn I love it so much I turn around to air conditioned car (when air con worked in my car hehe) Bring water, pet, sweater, wear layers and maybe rent a boat or foot paddle boat for funsies or a bike at the rental spot there at the lake or grab your food and picnic basket with your favorite tunes or friend and starbucks or many shops in the La Mesa Village even DZ akins not so far... Dennys if it's there still and Ihop on your way from freeways near Wendys or the Sprouts and Vons live on the way as well as the others of course and our Albertsons. Enjoy! Come to Chollas Lake or see if they still let fishing on the other side of Sweetwater! License please! See you there! Woof Woof friendly... parrots please! Gorgeous ambiance mornings and evenings on days work week or during traffic to beat the boredom of sitting in the car longer than needed. Beautiful lake. Crystal clear water. I came to spend the day at Lake Murray after hearing about all the amazing species of fish they have here. From Florida Bass to rainbow trout, sunfish, and catfish. They had pretty much a target species for everyone.

Unfortunately I didn’t have any luck with those bass but my friends pulled quite a few nice size trout on the golden shiners.

The boats are in pretty good shape. Not the most comfortable but far better than most other rental boats. The bait shop is pretty nice also. They have live bait (shiners, worms, etc) They’ve got plenty of your “go to” lures and soft baits. Bottom line they had everything needed so one wouldn’t have to stop at a tackle shop prior to going.

Overall it was a beautiful day with gorgeous views. The wildlife was really nice! Especially the ducks.

Although I didn’t catch anything, the memory was far worth the trip. I’ll definitely be back. Next time for...

Lake Murray is part of Mission Trails Regional Park and is a great place to visit. It is a lake with lots of waterfowl around year-round, you can rent boats here and take a short cruise on the lake, and you can fish from boat or shore.

Lots of hiking trails here, however you cannot go completely around the lake which I think was an oversight. There is a concession stand, water fountains, benches, picnic tables, and some paved trails.
