I was hiking to the Pyles Peak summit. First, I had to get to Cowles Mountain, and I observed a large influx of athletic people who love hiking. Although it was hot. But when I went from Cowles Mountain to Pyles Peak, I only met 5 people the whole time. And it was a completely different adventure. Read moreYou can get to it from the front side of the Cowles or the back side of cowels or from Big Rock. No water or bathrooms once you start... So make sure you bring water and some kind of snacks.. the total Trail distance is 5.8 miles but it's 1700 foot of elevation gain and it gets hot in the warmer months. Read morePyles Peak is an extra challenge for those who want a longer hike than Cowles. The highest point is Cowles, then the trail descends as it follows the contours of the neighboring peaks of Cowles. A steep ascent for the last 0.25 mile, then the summit is reached. Views aren't as great as on Cowles, but still good.
