Angeles National Forest, Los Angeles Gateway Ranger District Office — Attraction in San Fernando

Big Tujunga Canyon Road is a great getaway. A nice drive and if you are not in a hurry a great alternative to the sometimes crowded 5 to the 14 freeway route to Palmdale. Big Tujunga takes you to Angeles Forest Highway and if you turn left you are on your way to Palmdale via the scenic route. There are a few idiots who drive real slow and refuse to pull over as they are required but patience will be rewarded after a while with a passing zone. The Highway Patrol rarely does and you are in trouble if your car brakes down and there are no services for 35 miles so make sure you have plenty of gas in your tank. Cell phones don't work either.
