Cochran Shoals Unit, Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area — Attraction in Sandy Springs

Beautiful trail experience. We saw some smaller side trails that offered more challenges but it was a very comfortable walk. Family and pet friendly. The trail is even acceptable for a bike although it is unpaved. There were beautiful views of the Chattahoochee River and at one of the parking locations, it's a nice place to enter the river for tubing. Be advised to check the flow rates before jumping onto the river. There are tiny turtles and muskrats. It's partially shaded so I would suggest glasses and a large brim hat for sun shade. We recently moved from Florida to Atlanta, and we went for the first time in mid fall. Cochran Shoals is walkable and beautiful for people of all ages PLUS their dogs! You can rent bicycles or bring your own, and there are a few trails you can choose from, making this as long as you walk as you like. The paths are so broad , with a few water fountains along the way for drinking; there is a restroom station as well which is clean!! This is a really great place for a nature hike. My wife and I go here pretty often for a nice lap around the trails . It's a great place to bring a picnic and sit by the river and just enjoy nature and the sounds of the water. it's a pretty popular place so you'll definitely run into some neat people. And if have a dog and are looking for a great place to take them out for a walk I would definitely suggest these trails. Parking can be a problem sometimes when it's very busy, butit's well worth the trip. Once you've gone you'll want to come back to this place...
