Next up in our Chattahoochee River Parks series is Sope Creel which is a part of the Cochran Shoals land unit located in Marietta. 🄾There are 6.6 miles of hiking and biking trails. 🄾Dog friendly. 🄾Paper mill ruins to explore dating back to 1853. 🄾Large pond, small bridges, and wooded areas to explore. 🄾$5 daily entry or $40 for a year pass to all the parks. 🄾Hike connects to Interstate north (Cochran Shoals trail). It’s 8.5 miles and a small, historic cemetery is nestled between the two parks. #sopecreek #chattahoocheeriver #crnra #atlanta #thingstodoinatl #atlantahikes #fyp

The main ā€œtouristā€ trail is a very easy trail with a very rewarding stop at the old paper mill ruins. Sope creek runs next to it and you can jump the big rocks when the water is low enough. There are also biking trails that connect down to Cochran sharks and a web of trails that are great for walking/hiking and make it as long or as short of an adventure as you want. There is also a pond close to the parking lot that I’ve seen people catch small fish in and I’ve been out there when it’s been completely frozen over. I highly recommend checking out this spot.

I absolutely love this place. The way they've carved out the trails allows you to hike for miles but not go too far. Certain trails will connect you to the Chattahoochee trails in another part of town. Lovely pond near the entrance and if you follow the right trails from the entrance you'll find yourself down by the creek where you can relax, get in the water, meditate, or just sit on a rock and read a book. I wish visitors would do better to clean up after themselves because there tends to be quite a bit of garbage down by the water. Do take precaution because the snake populations is high certain parts of the year. If you're lucky you'll catch a glimpse of the Heron that swoops in every...

This is definitely not my favorite trail system to ride and I surely would not make a special trip just to ride it, but If you're in the area, it's a convenient mountain bike trail. If you go on a Saturday you will spend the majority of your time climbing the mountain that the trails are on, only to get a few minutes of fun at the very end of the trails. Honestly, it's not that great if you're just riding for fun, but If you're looking for a workout or are training, then this is a great place to do so. I need to ride the Sunday direction so maybe it will be better. Sorry this is not that positive of a review, but it's just an "okay"...
