Wanted a quick, easy breath of fresh air walk, and this trail mostly delivered. There’s a slight, steady incline that I wasn’t fully prepared for, but it added a nice bit of challenge without being overwhelming. The trailhead map was hard to read, and I initially thought it was a short loop, but it actually continues onward up the mountain—so I eventually turned back. The views are beautiful, especially looking out toward downtown Santa Fe, and the mix of greenery and high desert landscape made the walk feel meditative. I even spotted plenty of wildlife along the way. A couple of notes: the parking area is small and tucked up against a residential neighborhood, and I did notice one pile of dog waste on the trail—so hopefully visitors will be mindful and pack out after their pets. Despite the trailhead being a little hard to find and the signage unclear, it was still a lovely little hike overall.

One of the dogs’ favorite trails. I call this a lollipop trail: follow the stick to a loop, follow the loop in either direction, and return on the stick. It took us 39 minutes today at Siberian Husky speed. Other dogs may take longer. This rolling trail offers several great views of different parts of Santa Fe, a nice spot for a scenic snack, and access to a longer route (but that’s another story). There are only four parking spaces at the trail head and another eight spaces a short distance farther up the road. Traction devices are a good idea in Winter.

Somewhat of a secret spot but well worth it. Parking is limited but we were lucky enough to find a spot. Took my dogs there and they really had a great time. In the snow this was a very enjoyable walk with good elevation change. I love that on one side of the 'mountain/hill' you see the city while not the other its all nature. We didn't encounter many people on the trail which was nice. Would recommend to anyone.
