I know my post is not going to really help anybody in the "here and now "make a decision on whether to go to Woodglen Vista Park or not .. but I want to share anyways.. I was a child of the 1980's and grew up right down the street from Woodglen Vista Park ... Back when i was younger it was a whole different world.. The park playground was " very dangerous" in design, it was a lot of metal that would get so hot , burns were common place. I remember there was a three story part that you could climb into .. at the top was a slide ( pic below) that always had urine down it .. on top of that it was so hot from the sun.. its was sheet metal.. ? There was always fecies at the bottom of each slide that you'd have to watch out for, on top of that- the "stoners " ruled the park.. usually in black jackets blasting boom boxes with heavy metal that had profanity. They would take over the park, and they didn't like kids very much, so you knew that was time to go down to the creek and see if you could find any crawdads. The skate park wasn't there.. I remember when they built the gazebo though.. I was happy because the storers relocated there.. when I was really young.. the bathrooms next to the tennis courts were atrocious .. they were made of metal and always fecies splattered purposely on the walls which were covered with gerfetti such things as for a good time call... you held your breathe going in.. hurled and ran out.. they eventually tore those down.. Woodglen Vista Park was known as a ruff park.. and you never would be there after sunset .. ever! Dispite all of this growing up literally just down the street , I loved this park.. and would love to see it again sometime .. it will always hold a special place in my heart!...
Read moreWe've visited the dog park here several times, and it's large & lovely. Unfortunately, several pet owners bring unsociable, aggressive dogs, which just ruins the fun for everyone. My pit/boxer/lab mix was attacked the moment we came through the gate by 2 chihuahuas. I'm proud of how my dog reacted, by putting a paw on the dog biting her & pinning it to the ground. Obviously she could have annihilated the two dogs attacking her, but she didn't. The owner of the little beasts said she only got the dogs the day before. I think it was irresponsible to have brought them to a dog park before finding out if they were properly socialized. She put my dog's life at risk (her lineage automatically brands her as some kind of vicious killer anyway) and because I would never put my dog in that situation, we left immediately. I hope to return, but if I'm ever faced with such a clueless dog owner again, I may be the one put in...
Read moreWow! this park has a River Bed Next to it that has every texture on the path. I will post pics, once I figure out how to. There is Grass, Mud, rocky river bottom, Beach Sand, Rocks Small and large with Different Textures. There are also Roots and Trees along with the rocks that serve as obstacles. The park itself was Great! The park was full of nice people. The dogs there were all nice. A scuffle did ensue, but Nothing really happened. There were plenty of Tennis Balls and Water Bowls already there. If a Dog did act up the owner was quick to leave. I like that they left, however if I were in their shoes I wouldn’t want to have to leave. The park was clean and had Different Textures which was Great for my Puppy too. I will be back. Two more things Great Dog Drinking and Dog Washing Station, and Great Clean Bathroom with...
