Walking path all the way around the grassy area/playing fields. Shares space with community gardens. It is the Vista for some apartments. You can also get to the park from the very back of the Prince of Peace parking lot (be respectful!) off Saratoga Avenue, a footpath through to Cox Avenue, and the main entrances (with street parking only).
Both the Men's and Women's bathrooms have handicap stalls. They are well stocked with toilet paper, seat covers, hand soap, and paper towels. Please note: after soccer games/practice the bathrooms will have heavy traffic, young crowd, resulting in messy bathrooms.
Picnic area with BBQ grills are available. Decent playground with basic funtionality. Check online to see about any restrictions or city ordinances that must be observed.
Even though there is a leash law in Santa Clara County, there are a few people who are convinced that their dog should be exempt. Once in a great while, for whatever reason, one of those dogs won't play well with others. The owner may seem unconcerned with their beloved pet's attitude and refuse to leash their pet. You didn't go to the park to end up dealing with Mr or Miss Personality. Call the police to deal with that, and you keep your kids safe and walk away to enjoy your time at the park....
Read moreI live just a three-minute walk from the park and have been very happy about the new pickleball courts. This morning, around 8:40, we went for our usual 20-minute routine and walked onto an empty court. About halfway through, a man named Barry Cheatham arrived on the adjacent court. He appeared to be giving paid lessons and claimed that he had booked the courts for himself.
Rather than speaking politely, he was extremely rude and told us to leave immediately, in a very dismissive manner. When I asked if we could at least finish the last 7 minutes of our routine, he flatly refused. His attitude made us feel as though he “owned” the courts, which were in fact built with public money for the whole community.
Even if he did have a reservation, the lack of courtesy and respect was completely unnecessary. I would appreciate clarification on how court reservations work, and whether it is acceptable for individuals to monopolize public courts for private lessons.
