Visiting the top of Mt. Washington was a treat all in itself. With the other features it turned out to be quite a day. The Tip Top House was first constructed in 1853 and entertained guests year around. It was a spartan existence to say the least. It is hard to imagine horse and carriage made it up & down the road, to say it is a severe grade with no guard rails. Those people were hardy, fearless and had to endure some of the worst weather on the planet. They must have enjoyed the sights, which are fantastic. We were told that on the day that we visited was a pretty rare one by one of the meteorologist he said a day this clear only one of a few experienced during a year, we were able to see 110 miles in all directions and it was fantastic. We hope you'l be as lucky.

Highest peak in North-eastern USA. Its around 6000+ feet high from the ground level. There is only one road to go and come from this place. Vehicles have to be driven carefully. State park vehicles, a cog train are also available. Many People do hiking to reach the top. There is a tip-top house, a cell phone tower, a summit, parking space, a tiny train station , viewing spots, souvenir shop.

We visited on a Wednesday afternoon in late June 2025. We did take the Cog Railway up to the top of Mt. Washington. We knew going in that the Tip Top House was closed but you can still look at it from the outside which was cool and try and peek into some of the windows. If anything it's a interesting feature to take photos with.
