Great park to sit and watch the ships go by, enjoy the birds (ducks pretty much all the time - others are more seasonal), not far enough to escape the sounds of the city unless you have noise cancellng headphones. Lots of benches to just sit and chill. Places to fish along the bank, as well as a little fishing pier. During the winter months the snow is not cleaned up on the road or benches; you are on your own. People still crive into the park so it is accessible by vehicle or you can walk in (it's not that big). Bring something to sit on if the benches might be wet or snow covered.
Parking in the park is available, or you can park in the lot just outside the park and walking.
Dogs are welcome, but should be leashed if there are oter folks in the park. During the really cold months, and bad weather your pup can run free as the park tends to be relatively empty. Poop bags for your do are available at the entrance / exit. Please cleanup after your dog.

Read moreRotary Island Park is an excellent place to watch freighters go by if you're looking for a good spot to watch and get pictures from without a fence in front of you. This is also a nice spot to fish, especially if you have kids. If they're under a certain age, they're allowed to fish in the stocked area where they're guaranteed to catch something! We camp at Aune Osborne Campground right down the street and it's within walking distance from there. Clyde's is in the same parking lot, so make sure to grab a burger or shake while you're there! There's also a ferry that goes to Sugar Island multiple times a day if you decide you want to take your...
Read moreWe have visited this park many times to play at the playground (which is great for ages 1-5!) but this was our first time fishing in the children's pond (up to Age 16 only!) and my son had an absolute blast. Although he didn't catch anything on his first try, we will surely be back to give it another go.
I will give warning to watch out for Canada Goose poop! They like to hang out here and it is everywhere, but it definitely doesn't ruin your experience, in my opinion. This is an absolute wonderful spot to watch the boats/freighters come downriver from the Soo Locks. They are really up close &...
