Beautiful setting with a nice view over the grape orchard. Some really good wines.
My wife and I went to several wineries today and really enjoyed this place. We tried 8 wines and were impressed with a number of them. Tasters were 4 for $5. They did not have food, but a number of patrons brought their own. It is a great place for a picnic. The server was friendly and answered questions.
We tried three reds, four dry white wines and an ice wine. We tend to drink dry wines, but will have port on occasion.
Of the reds, the Trinity was our favorite (it is listed as their most popular red), Karma came in a close second. Neither of us cared for the Exodus. I wish that we had tried the pinot noir.
Semillon was the white that we liked the best. It had a fuller taste and was just different than other wines that I've had. I think it was more off dry than dry. Next time I go out, I'll pick up a bottle (I wish I had on this trip). I liked the pinot grigio second and my wife like the dry riesling. The Chardonnay was the first wine that we tasted. At first we were impressed, but after comparing it to the other whites, it just wasn't as good. (If you like dry whites, you must visit Harpersfield Vineyard, which has some outstanding whites).
Finally, we had never had an ice wine before, so I didn't know what to expect, nor can I compare it to other wines that I've had. We tried the Blush Ice and I was surprised at how complex the flavors were. I was expecting something a little sweeter. Overall a very nice desert wine. Again, I can't compare it to other ice wines, all I know is that I liked it.
Overall, a great place to visit. It is a beautiful setting with some...
Read moreI consider South River Vineyard and Winery one of the many wonderful establishments that exist in Geneva's scenic "Wine Country". The drive to get to South River Vineyard and Winery was a beautiful experience in itself. Once I arrived, I was in awe at how scenic and beautiful the vineyard was. I could definitely picture myself visiting again during the summer for a glass of wine while watching the sunset, it's just postcard picturesque! The building where patrons can taste wine is basically a renovated church building complete with pews and stained glass windows. There is also a view of the vineyard itself and a patio that opens during the summertime overlooking. There is a generous selection of fruity, white and red wines available here, including wine sampling options. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the...
Read moreIf you're deaf, you will appreciate how beautiful the place is. Very good wine too. But the problem is and for any of these wineries are the drunk buses hauling around these classless soon to be terrible wives. They need to call these buses red flag wagons. These treasures of men dominate every ear, and they destroy anything pleasant about these places. Just like their future husbands' lives. It's all about the money. Just allow yourselves to ride safely and with no responsibility. Get drunk and obnoxious! The only pleasure I had there was to fanaticize that their bus would roll over. Also, the metal chairs the shrieked across the concrete sounds like a collapsing building. Drag that chair some more people! Do you hear that sound? I won't be going back....
