Tasting was okay, but not a great experience overall. We spent an hour or so on Saturday tasting wine, had some food and a couple of glasses of wine, and bought 6 bottles. When we went to check out, the guy who had helped us figured up our tab on their system, turned the screen around and our total was $253. It was $30-40 more than I was expecting, but my wife just swiped our card and didn't sweat it.
On Monday, we looked at the receipt, and the total included a $33 tip. The tip option never came up when we paid (we would have tipped something, but certainly not $33 for what was mostly a retail purchase).
I called today, and the guy who answered the phone couldn't possibly have cared less. He went from "I didn't work Saturday, so I don't know anything" to "Well, you must have pushed the tip button when you checked out". He never offered to check on it or have someone call me back. After several minutes of getting a runaround, I said "Well, there are plenty of wineries in the area, I guess I'll just visit others in the future". His response was "Okay, that's your call".
We're new to the area, and like to have a nice wine selection at home. I'd think we're just the type of customer that a winery would want to treat well. It looks like there are a couple dozen wineries in the GRV area. We will stick with the ones that don't scam customers and who care if there is a problem.
Update: Matt from M Cellars saw my online review, reached out and made it right. Changing my review to 4 stars for the good...
Read moreOne of the many wineries in the area. We stopped in for a bite to eat and a glass of local wine. I've been to many of the local wineries and particularly appreciate what M Cellers has to offer. I only wish they had a larger menu and served meals too. I will say the dishes they do offer are copious and delicious. We sat by the fireplace and appreciated the warmth given the time of year. Born in Geneva , I have lived most of my life in France and I've noticed how the local wines have changed over time and I think if I brought some of my French friends to the area they would enjoy trying many of them especially those on offer here at M Cellars.
A few days later: Feb. 4. 2024 I'd just like to add that I stopped in again with a friend who had never been to M Cellars. He got a glass of the Brut Rosé and I went down the list of wines tasting most of them..... At 0.25$ a taste, why not? I can't say that there was anything I really didn't like and I tasted at least 8 different wines from sparkling rosé to white to red to sweet port style, my favorites are still All of the dry reds. If you like dryer wines closer to what you'd find in Europe, you really must come in to M Cellers and try what they have on offer. Thank you Kelly for sharing your wine experience with us. It was a very...
Read moreMy wife and I along with 2 lifelong friends had an absolutely spectacular experience visiting M Cellars on October 12, 2024. We participated in the UTV tour of the vineyard, which included several wine tastings while sampling the grapes directly off the vines and a detailed explanation of the entire wine-making process. Chris was a wonderful tour guide with a great understanding of the processes involved, a dry sense of humor, and rather accommodating as well as entertaining. Our tour was followed by a moment to relax and enjoy two appetizer plates that were equally as pleasing to the taste buds as they were to the eyes. We reviewed the wine offerings and the wine club and decided to join after such an enjoyable experience and beautiful day. Matt & Tara have created a wonderful destination to visit. You can plainly see their passion for producing high quality wines while responsibly caring for God’s creation and serving their customers. This was our third visit to the winery, but certainly will not be our last. We were there for almost four hours, but the visit was so enjoyable, our time there just flew by. Thank you for a most enjoyable afternoon and...
