To whom it may concern,
We have been going to Reaper's Revenge since 2018. Here is our review from our visit on Saturday October 12, 2024.
Please note we are using a rating scale from one to five, with five the best and one being the worst.
Haunted Hayride - We noticed that certain people are missing from the hay ride this year. No Michael Myers, no Jason, no little girl coming out of the well, no Cletus and his family. The thriller segment with Michael Jackson has always been entertaining. Our favorite interaction has always been with the sheriff. Being pulled off the hayride and being accused of something we did not do does not grow old over time. The rest of the hayride is good as well as you don't know where to look as to where the next scare is coming from. We would give this a rating of 3.
Lost Carnival - Up one path, down another. In and out of various buildings. The people here are on top their game interacting as to asking questions as to what do you want from the carnival. Any answer you give is wrong. You don't know who you are going to meet here. From the guy who runs the rollercoaster to the girl who is asking everyone for tickets. Around every corner is someone new to meet. Found out the hard way that you do not push any of the red buttons as you go through the carnival. As Freddy said on the hayride - "How is that for a wet dream?" We would give this a rating of 4.
Delirium - The special effects here are well you have to ask yourself what is real and what is not. This attraction has always kept us guessing. Whoever designed this deserves a lot of credit as to our mind being led to believe what is there or is it there or did it somehow move to somewhere else. The people that inhabit this attraction are excellent. Are they real or are they part of your imagination? Do not change a thing here or if you do would it add to the mystery? We would give this a rating of 5.
Pitch Black - This attraction has always been excellent. I wear glasses, without them my vision is not that great. So, you have me at a disadvantage from the start. Last night was no different. Every time that I have gone through this attraction, I can't see, I am getting lost, I am getting turned around, I am getting grabbed at the ankles, touched on my head and pushed and or pulled in another direction. My family is always waiting for me to find my way out. Taking away the ability to see what is next, great concept. We would give this a rating of 5.
Sector 13 - There was a lot of interaction here with the people of this attraction, where has it all gone? For example, when we first went in 2018, our family was separated very quickly here. My daughter was put in a dog cage by a "doctor", I was put on a examination table by a "nurse" We asked what was going on and we were told - "not to worry, we have some tests that have to be conducted" We feel that whoever decided to change things here, maybe needs to bring back more of the interaction. Sector 13 for the past couple of years is basically been a walkthrough with not too many jump scares. The special effects are still good though. We would give this a rating of 2.
We know that there is a 6th attraction on the horizon. Overall our rating for the total experience of Reaper's Revenge is a 4. We know that it is not possible but in the order of things, we feel that Pitch Black would work better as the last attraction. We will continue to visit Reaper's Revenge for years to come and thanks for all of your hard work.
Respectfully,
The...
Read morePrevious years visiting Reaper's Revenge were great! With that being said and excited to experience this year, a review had to be written describing the conditions of this year being "torture" to many. Starting with the parking, we were lucky to be able to park as we were one of the last seven cars allowed to park in the main parking lot. All lots for the attraction were now full, from the information heard being told to other drivers, causing irritation to the line of cars down the road who were advised to return in an hour to see if spots had opened up. Driver's being told this information were stating how they drove over 3+ hours, some with pre-purchased tickets/hotels booked, had no idea where to go to wait since this area is not familiar to them. Next issue was tickets to enter Reaper's Revenge. Our tickets were pre-purchased online with the understanding the ticket booth could be avoided and we could go directly to wait in line. We learned tonight even though tickets were purchased online, we still had to wait at the ticket booth to trade our pre-purchased tickets for ANOTHER ticket to present before getting on the hayride. The wait advertised at the ticket booth stated from that point was a 2 hour wait, which was actually a 4+ hour wait. Next waiting in the line. After an hour of waiting, our back and legs started to get sore due to the uneven dirt path and making no extreme movements in the line. There are no benches or other areas to sit and relive pressure from standing during these situations causing people to find anywhere to sit which ended up witnessing many people using the prop coffins as a resting point to help relieve their pain. After 2+ hours waiting in line and nowhere to sit, pain in the back and legs have worsened but since we drove a long distance to attend, we decided to continue waiting. Now at 3+ hours and barely moving, the pain is becoming more like "torture" and due to this, now people are impatient and sore, finding ways to cut in line, especially groups, to get to the hayride faster. Now at 4+ hours "TORTURE" , we finally get on a hayride. Long story short, we were hurried through all the attractions, which according to previous times visiting, seemed to be cut short to hurry us through making the experience less exciting compared to the previous years, in addition to the portabe bathrooms being extremely unsanitary, out of toilet paper and just disgusting. In conclusion, after tonight's experience, we found ourselves talking about more negative than positive with our visit. This has made us reconsider a future visit and to advise others of what they are...
Read moreIt's extremely difficult to formulate into words the experience that you get at this place. No, seriously.
I've been to over 10-15 Halloween attractions around NY/NJ/PA and this is by far the best.
The moment you enter, you feel like you're in another world.
Depending on the day/hour, you will wait a while as is expected with any attraction but once it starts, it goes on continuously for the 5 attractions in order. They are outdoor/indoor hybrids and each one is vastly different.
The best part and highlight is the hayride, this one is mastered to perfection almost.
You know how you go to hayrides and some have rails, or some obstruct views or some generally feel not as open? This isn't a problem here, the hayride is open and you get to see everything.
You also know how some hayrides generally feel like as if they follow paths that are well lit or some things in the background such as lights take you out of it? Not a problem here, this hayride is literally strolling through an extremely dark forest, with no road lights or anything. It's a dark experience and it has amazing scenes play out. Bit of a spoiler but if you're a fan of sadako or the ring series, then oh boy, you're in for a show.
The set pieces, actor performances, sound effects, fog, strobe lights, music, and animatronics are unlike anything I've ever seen before, this was bats* level insane good. The actors that perform during the hayride honestly deserve an applause for creating an amazing experience.
I never get scared at Halloween attractions and for the first time, I actually jump screamed at several portions, it's that good.
After the hayride, my next favorite attraction was pitch black, this one terrified my group to the point where everyone was holding shoulders. I absolutely loved the whole idea here, it's essentially a maze with no visibility but the actors inside will touch you and mind game you. Portions of it had little lighting and in those sequences, it's especially scary with the little you see.
I can go on and on but overall the best attraction in the northeast area for sure.
The only minor complaint I have is how groups are let in, our party got merged with another for pitch black, and the spacing could perhaps be improved as in letting people in slowly, it's not that we were rushed, but the spacing could use perhaps 15-20 extra...
