While I haven’t visited every beach down the shore, I am a true Jersey girl and have visited quite a few of the the beaches down here and this is by far my favorite! Sea girt is clean, quiet, and doesn’t get too crowded even on prime beach days. I went on 7/23/23 and paid $11 for a daily beach badge. Street parking is free! Which is awesome.. I arrived at about 10:00am on a Sunday and found parking right away. The beach is a pretty long stretch. The section near the main entrance with the pavilion tends to be busier but if you enter through the other side on the opposite far end, it’s less crowded and you can find a nice quiet spot. You technically cannot eat on the beach but I did see a handful of people eating on the beach. If you keep a low profile, you can probably get away with it, just know that you do so at your own risk (I hear they sometimes give tickets for violations of beach rules). The boardwalk is also really beautiful. I took a nice stroll during my time there. I left round 2:00pm and at that time, I could see people struggling to get parking so I would recommend coming early to get a decent spot. I do wish that they had more restrooms. They do have restrooms near the main entrance where the pavilion is, but if you’re on the opposite end it’s about a 15-20min walk which can be inconvenient. Overall, this is a beautiful and clean beach with more mature crowds. People are usually quiet and respectful. If you want a nice peaceful beach experience, I would recommend...
Read moreThis review is not about the beach itself but for the beach police that enforce the rules of the beach. My family and I have visited beach several times and yesterday was one of the most unpleasant experiences I have ever had at a beach. We brought a tent for shade and were told by the 1st officer to take it down because it was not permitted. He asked if we had umbrellas and we advised him that we did not so he permitted us to keep it up for the day for the day. Police #2 comes and tells us to take the tent down and proceed to tell him that we were just told that it was ok to keep it up just for today because we were not aware and it was 95 degrees out. Police #3 comes and RUDELY tells us to bring the tent down, and again we told the office we were told we were allowed to have it up just for the day. He accused of us lying and stated that none of the officers would permit that when in fact the first officer did. My family and I were so upset at the way they handled the situation that we will never return to this beach again and will make sure to tell everyone we know the treatment that we received after the fact that we...
Read moreI went to Sea Girt this weekend with my 6x6 coolbana which is much safer than an umbrella. I was told I could not use it. This was not posted on the rules and regulations as you enter the beach. I had already paid the hefty $10 beach tag along with my friends. We needed shade so we went to the pavilion and used the rocking chair in the shade. Mind you we are ages 55, 64, 65 and 70. So we were not teenagers carrying on but friends who wanted time to spend together and talk in the shade. This man was mad that we were there and he complained about us not only to us but went to the police. He sent the police up to the pavilion. Not sure what he told the police we were doing that warrant their visit. The police saw that we were fine, not blocking traffic, just rocking away and talking and left. After both encounters we left Sea Girt and will not return. To snooty for me and no rules posted. ...
