Visited this area July 23 2018. Beautiful area. I came here to hike the tillamook head trail, which is located at the indian beach parking area and not the view point parking area. I started at the viewpoint parking area. The restrooms there are flushing toilets and gorgeous views, it was almost 6am when I got to the TH in 2018. The trail I took to the right of the parking area is fairly easy till you get to the eroded area leading down to the beach. It is still manageable, but use caution. I would not recommend this trail for young children. I was looking for the tillamook head trail so I did not go all the way down to the beach. There is also a falls hike from the viewpoint parking area I did not do.

Indian beach parking area has pit toilets and beach access via stairs. No wheelchair access to the beach. Picnic areas at both parking areas and a lot of parking. I did the clatsop trail going up along the creek, to the loop turn off because I wanted to see the lighthouse but it was too foggy that day to see from the mountain. Then I went back to the hikers camp which is pretty cool looking area to camp, there is even a pit toilet at the hikers camp. I went straight on the trail past the hikers camp and saw the old military bunker ruins and another viewpoint. Then went on the north tillamook trail, which drizzled/sprinkled the majority of time I was on the trail. It was very muddy and big obsticals to maneuver around on this trail. I was close to the north tillamook end when there was this really steep part that looked slippery, that I was not comfortable climbing down alone so I turned around.

The beach is beautiful by the time I got back to the parking area the lot had filled up at 12pm. I checked out the beach before I left and it is a must see, beautiful rock formations in the ocean. Great place to bring young children.

If you get to the park early you can use the fee pay station on the side of the ranger shack. The road up is narrow. When I left the park there was a line of 15 to 20 cars waiting to...

Amazing place but please BEWARE. Today, my Frenchie was on his leash when he was attacked by another dog that was off leash at the beach. My daughter asked if she could pet their dog to which they said yes and they asked if my dog was friendly. Before my daughter could pet their dog and before I could answer that yes, my dog is friendly, my dog smelled theirs and theirs snarled and jumped on mine. My dog didn't fight back, he was pinned to the ground while theirs was biting at his neck.

I understand that sometimes dogs don't get along but the disturbing part was that while this dog had mine pinned to the ground attacking him, the owners did nothing. I had to use my legs to try to push their dog off mind and when he wouldn't let go, I had to pull their fur and physically pull him off my dog. The owners didn't try to help, didn't say sorry and didn't even ask if my dog was okay. And didn't put their dog on a leash even after all that, just petted him and walked off to go play like nothing happened. Everyone around was horrified and asking if my dog was okay and kind of shocked this happened, especially in front of my daughter and many other kids. My dog is pretty shaken up, he has puncture wounds on his neck and once I put him in the car, I had a difficult time coaxing him out.

Please be wary if you see these people and this dog I posted. I took these about a minute after their dog attacked mine ... They were not at all concerned and went on playing like nothing happened. They do not put their dog on a leash or control their dog despite him being VERY aggressive.

I did alert the park and the person I talked to said they were going down to the beach to talk to the owners to control their dog but judging by their utter lack of concern, I feel like the owners of this dog will let this happen again.

I've visited this beach many times and it's absolutely gorgeous and a lot of fun so I hate to have anything bad to say but I want to be sure this never happens to...

Absolutely beautiful beach with a wide array of animal life to find hidden in the climbable rocks and cliffs, there's multiple species of crabs, including hermit crabs, purple and red starfish, and sea anemone galore. It's a very fun workout climbing on the boulders and cliffs- and very good for beginners. A great place to take your family to have a fun day at the beach too. You can choose to take either the beautiful hiking path that takes you right up to the top of the beach or you can take the equally beautiful- if slightly dangerous- drive to the parking lot at the top of the beach. It's not recommended to try driving RVs or mini-vans due to the small roads and steep hills, but as long as you take it slow other cars work just fine. This is one of my favorite spots to go to when I have the time, and absolutely calls for at least a couple hours just to be able to see everything there is to see. Also a very good place to go "hunting" for mussels and gooseneck barnacles, with there being a small cave on the right side of the beach filled with large goosenecks and many of the boulders having clusters of giant mussels that would be perfect for a seafood soup or...
