I have alot to say about ZDT Amusement Park.

TL;DR This small park packs a large punch.

Today was my first time going to ZDT Amusment Park and based on the size of this park, my expectations were very low, admittedly. Because of this I only purchased two unlimited daily passes, one for myself and one for my 5 year old.

As you walk in you're immediately greeted by an arcade room. These arcade games are a little on the older end, but every single one of them is set up to free play mode, so it more than makes up for their age. The majority of the games are racing games, with a few arcade shooters, and a couple of music games sprinkled throughout. My son really got a kick out of playing some air hockey though.

This building holds quite a few attractions which will have you curious how they fit so much in such a tiny place. This building not only has an arcade, but a rock climbing wall, a bungee cord trampoline, a virtual roller coaster machine, and a HUGE playground (more on those later).

As you make your way outdoors you're immediately met with arguably the heart of ZDT, Switchback. Switchback is a small wooden roller coaster, but just like with ZDT itself, it packs ALOT of punch. The ride starts up a chain lift hill and then plummets you 58 feet at 40 mph. The ride then takes you in and out of a building, while making sharp turns and going a few smaller hills. That's not the best part though, this ride then sends you straight up into the air into a dead end of the track. As you approach the top you come to a stop and then fall backwards, doing a majority of the ride completely backwards. This ride blew me away, and my son and I rode this about 15 times.

As you leave the Switchback, you immediately run into a ride called the Dizzy Toucan. The Dizzy Toucan sits riders in a circle, spins them and swings them. If you're familiar with larger rides like The Joker at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, then just imagine a smaller version of it, yet with the same thrills.

Another ride at the park, the Parachute Drop is a ride where once again riders sit in a circle and are dropped over and over again from the top of the ride. This one is guaranteed to tickle your stomach.

Thunderbolt Speedway Go-Karts are included with park admission (yes, that's right. There is no additional charge to ride the go-karts like so many other parks do). These Go-Karts are all electric and are actually really cool. These go-karts are heavily regulated (in a safe way) so when it's time to depart the loading area, they go at a very slow rate. Once everyone is on the track the go-karts top speed goes up and you can race as usual. The karts also stop in the event of an accident on the track, and while I can see some being upset over this, it's a fantastic safety tool (but safety is my only issue with this park funny enough, more on this later as well). The track itself goes indoors and outdoors and up to multiple levels. It's one of the better tracks I've driven go-karts on.

Between all the rides is another arcade that is essentially no different than the first arcade. Older arcade games that are mostly racing, but still a great time. There's also another large rock climb wall called the silo climb, but we did not do that one so I have no opinion on it.

Going back to the roller coaster simulator they have. Great in theory, but it made me very nauseous, but that's not ZDT's fault. My 5 year old absolutely loved it, and yes it does go upside down..... alot.... If you get motion sick easy, avoid this like the plague. If you dont suffer, give it a try, its very unique.

The playground is phenomenal! They have ball launchers all over the playground, a huge slide, and lots of other activities built in. My son LOVED it! They also have a smaller area for little ones.

My ONLY issue with this park was safety. On multiple occasions I witnessed the park employees leaving the exit gate open to their rides, or the employees performing dangerous activities, such as running under a ride in motion. However they were all...

Amazing park. I live nearby and have the season pass, so I go here a couple times a month. Super nice staff, and started off as a small family run business. It is still owned and operated by the children of the original owner. You will likely see them when you go there, as they are often running the front ticket booth area.

They have two arcades, three waterslides, a parachute themed drop ride, a swing ride, a roller coaster that goes BACKWARDS on part, an indoor rock wall, and outdoor rockwall that allows you to climb all the way up a grain silo, a go-kart track, an impressive kids climbing play place, a bungee trampoline, and an indoor roller coaster simulator that spins and goes upside down.

The roller coaster simulator also allows you to build your own track. The roller coaster and go-karts are a must do attraction if you go. The roller coaster is themed like an old steam train and held the record for the steepest drop on a wooden roller coaster. It starts with a massive drop before going through several sharp turns and going up a large vertical ramp that dead ends at the top. After going up the ramp, you roll back and go through everything again backwards. They also have a very good food court area. It is inside the main building and has seating including a party room. The food is high quality and reasonably priced for an amusement park.

This place is a great place for parties, especially during the summer when the water park is open. There are party rooms and plenty of room for children to run around and play.

There are things for all ages, and anybody can have fun here. Most of the rides have a pretty short minimum height limit as long as the parent is riding with the kid. You have to be a certain height to drive the go-karts, but there isn't really a minimum height to ride with an adult (Within reason. Don't try to take a 1 year old on them.)

I 100% would recommend for a fun day with the family or friends. If you are in the area and have time to spare, you should check it out. I promise you won't regret it. It is the kind of place that you will love right away and keep wanting to...

Having been going to ZDT's for years, it is still a great place to go for a good time on a budget. The Switchback Roller coaster is the most recent addition to the park and still runs great, there is usually very little wait leading to multiple re-rides. ZDT's has some of the best go-karts in the area, all electric and FAST, we were honestly surprised how fast the karts went and were so much fun to drive. They have a large go kart track that goes up multiple levels which is also unique for many similar offerings in the San Antonio and Austin areas. In the summer, multiple water slides offer a great way to cool down(in the off season, ticket prices are also reduced to make up for these attractions being closed). Two smaller family rides offer long ride cycles and short waits. A large outdoor rock wall built on an old grain silo is a challenging climb but so much fun to watch. Inside the main building, a ballroom/play land for kids is very well done and offers lots for them to explore as it goes up very high. Indoor rock climb/vr coaster ride and trampoline are fun for the kids as well.

The only negative thing I have to say about ZDT's is the aging games in the arcades. Having been coming for years, the arcade games are often quite old. They do have some more modern classics like Guitar Hero, Fast and the Furious and other racers but many of the other games are out of date and don't function very well. All games are set to free play so your not really cheated out of anything but it would be nice to see some newer games brought in to replace the older aging machines.

Overall, ZDT's is a great time for fun on a budget. Go by if you have a few hours to kill and want...
