$3 to get in (that covers up to a party of 4) What a walk though. 2 hours and 30 minutes to walk to the light house and 2 hours to hike back. The way there we took in the sights but after 5 miles of seeing the same stuff you kinda just wanna get back to your car and eat your pb&j. There is a spot that is completely loose rocks. Tread carefully. Getting to the lighthouse makes the whole thing worth it. It's beautiful, the keepers were so nice, they give you some history and a tour to the top. Things to keep in mind: -You need sunblock, water, a snack, good hiking shoes (lots of stepping on uneven surfaces) -With that being said, travel light. It is a very long walk. -The lighthouse has water and a bathroom.

This place is really cool! You can hike to the lighthouse and back but it’s no “day at the beach.” Beautiful but come prepared for a serious hike, plenty of water, snacks/lunch and sun protection. I think it’s about 10 or 11 miles round trip. OR—you can come and hang out at the beach and not hike the spit. You would walk down the paved trail and can hang out at the base of the spit. Soft sand, beautiful logs, forest views and you can see Canada across the water! Bathrooms are near the parking lot, none at the beach area itself, so use the restroom after parking. Parking is available in the campground if you drive past the camping area and there’s a $3 fee to enter, so cash is nice to bring as well.

I had originally intended to go on the spit towards the lighthouse, but there were so many people I decided to walk the opposite direction. I’m so glad I did! The beach is so clean, and I enjoyed the view so much. It was really neat watching a bald eagle flying above me, and he got fairly close at one point. I saw two cargo ships and one cruise ship. This side of the beach wasn’t crowded at all, and so I really got to have some good “me time” without having to dodge people the entire time. The trail to get to the beach is also an easy one. There’s only one hill that you have to worry about and that’s just before you get to the beach itself. It isn’t too terribly steep so easy for kids as well.

The campground was nice and good facilities - some really big sites. However, one park ranger made it a more unpleasant stay for us. We had a group of 11 people, so we booked 2 campsites next to each other and spread out the tents for sleeping between both sites. I've done this at many different campgrounds before and never had an issue, since we don't exceed the max people that are allowed to sleep there. We would have some people come over to the bigger site during the day to cook or hang out. The park ranger said that we couldn't do this and could never have more than 6 people even hanging out at a single site at a time, even if they weren't sleeping there. He came to bother us about this multiple times and it seemed really unnecessary. He even came to bother my friend who was sitting alone doing nothing at a site while we were all out hiking. She was just sitting there quietly not bothering anyone.

I've never had this kind of reaction to my group at a campground before, so it made the visit more unpleasant for us. It seemed like the campground is more geared toward families since there were kids at the playground (which is right next to the site) screaming at 7am and he didn't seem to think that was a concern, but my party of adults talking and cooking at a site before 10pm quiet hours was an issue apparently. We were definitely being less loud than the screaming kids all day and it wasn't even quiet hours yet.

So, I wouldn't recommend this campground for groups of adults, and I wouldn't come back here because of this experience. Also be aware it seems they are really strict about no alcohol (was not clear to me when booking that was a rule), even though most other...

We have been camping at dungeness for over 15 years on an annual bases. We have always had such a nice, memorable time walking the trails and enjoying the nice campground. This year we were disappointed to pay 40$ per night for a basic tent site. The restrooms and showers were clean, however the showers are ice cold. On the second day of our stay, one of the camp hosts (older man, with short white beard) was noticably rounding, looking for any possible excuse to police the campers. Even with the seasons stragglers of respectful, mature adults enjoying the natural surroundings, he was sure to find discrepancy. Listen folks/hosts, this is a county park campground. Personalizing this park, taking ownership and treating your guests with disrespect, like they are invading your home is not the expectations of your job duties. Perhaps hosting a campground is not for you!!! We ended up leaving early d/t this awkward dynamic. Get with the program...

This is a gorgeous 5 mile in, 5 mile back hike to the Dungeness Lighthouse. The volunteers are pleasant and greet you and welcome you. There are opportunities to visit the living quarters and the lighthouse which is breathtaking. 63 feet up of beautiful 360 panoramic views of the spit with the Olympic Mountains in the background. Stunning. And on a clear day, you can view Mount Baker. Just stunning. Worth every bit of that mile. And checking tidal charts is important. Hiking in was a piece of cake as there was no winds and the tide was really low. But hiking on the way back was a xhallenge as the waves were pounding with a heavy wind gust. Felt like I was escorted to safety by these Albatros birds and seagulls. Lord God is always good and nothing better than enjoying his creation of nautre and animals...
