I went to 7 lavender farms in one day and spend the most time at Lavender Connection. Rick, the dad, at the outdoor smelling kiosk, patiently let us sniff several of the over 20 types of lavender that they grow. Silly me, I had thought there is only one type of lavender and it mostly smells the same until I had Rick dipping the white paper strip in a botte of oil and offering it to me to smell. They each do smell totally different! He very nicely writes down the name on each strip to make it less confusing to go back and smell a previous oil to compare it. This was like a wine tasting without the drinking, just the smelling but no calories consumed! The list of lavenders and prices is on a menu, so you know upfront what you are smelling and how much it would be. The lavender plant can produce a small or large amount of oil as it is distilled which drives the price. Rick was wonderful showing the distillation equipment and explaining the process.
I got the Tucker's Early and the Provence lavender oils. They come in a big bottle, and he gives you a smaller glass bottle with the topper so you can shake it out. Also, he gives you a plastic eye dropper to move the oil to the smaller bottle so you don't contaminate or change the oil too much by constantly opening the cap of the bigger bottle.
In the store, his sweet daughter was working. I got some packets of lovely lavender shortbread cookies that were really good and as gifts.
I told jokingly told Rick that I had been there so long sampling lavender that I did not need to go to any other farms. He encouraged me to visit other lavender farms saying they all have something different. He was definitely supportive of other lavender farm owners and said that the lavender community in Sequim is supportive of each other. That was...
Read moreWe loved this place!!! My husband, son and I visited this cute place a year ago from Hawaii! We actually came to Sequim to visit the Olympic game farm drive thru zoo. But I've also heard that Sequim is known for yearly lavender festival. So on that note I decided to look up some lavender farms. Being that were from Maui, Hawaii we didn't know where to go, so we trusted good ole' yelp to take us to the perfect farm. It took us to the Lavender connection. And I'm so happy we were able to visit only because It was later in the day and I was hoping they were still open...yes luckily the owner himself took us in. I was in complete awe'....he showed us how he distills the oils, giving us a brief history of the land and of all the different species of lavender... My smile was from cheek to cheek. It felt so spiritual to pick my own buds and be able to take home, I didn't want to leave this quaint place... I got to the gift shop and oh man, I couldn't hold back I bought big bags of dried lavender, some oils (as I'm a massage therapist) and some whipped butter, which I'm completely in love with ...to this day a year later the smells of my dried lavender brings me back to this special day. I suggest you give yourself hours to just lounge around and enjoy the moment. My only wish is that I could've stayed longer!! You'll be glad you stopped by at the Lavender...
Read moreThis lavender farm is amazing! I visited a day after the lavender festival had ended. The people here are so nice. The guy who runs the farm is super nice and welcoming. You can just enjoy the lavender and walk around. They are a u-pick farm, so you can pick a bundle of lavender, which is a great experience. Their gift shop/barn looks worn out on the outside, but on the inside there is amazing and very reasonably priced lavender products. They are great! I got lavender lip balm, lotion, culinary lavender and lavender tea, and they all smell amazing. The farm has lots of different kinds of lavendertoo. They have a port a potty. They have toy tractors that little kids can ride, and offer bocce ball. The lady in the gift shop was really nice and told me and my sister we did a good job picking our lavender bundles. The owner gave a recommendation on where to get coffee nearby. Members of the US armed forces can get a free bunch of lavender! The owner says their farm likes to support those who serve the US. This farm is so worth it to visit. You can beat this farm, it gives a great lavender experience. Check their hours on when they are open before you go. This farm is probably the best one in the Sequim area, you...
