A cool little park that offers something a bit different than other area playgrounds/outdoor recreational areas. I admit to being a bit biased since it is within (15 minute) walking distance of my house, and I coacj youth soccer for Shaler and this is one of oir main game field areas.
The playground area is small, but my kids still have fun with it, and there are often other children playing there. The soccer field (though in need of some more TLC in the offseasons) is nice for those who bring a ball and want to get some running and shooting in. There is also a small ropes course past the soccer field.
But what sets Fall Run apart from other area parks is its trails, which includes the notable small waterfall. These trails and scenic opportunities keep the park pretty busy for walkers and hikers, but the parking is sufficient, save for some busy soccer Saturdays. Overall, it's a nice place to unwind outdoors, and worth a look if...
Read moreFall Run Park is a beautiful park located in Glenshaw, PA. There are a ton of waterfalls to see and some of the trails run along and even cross the river banks. When we visited there still was not much green on the trees. We're excited to come back in summer to see how different it looks.
Fall Run Park is a 25-acre park located just north of Pittsburgh. The park is home to a 30-foot waterfall, as well as a forested nature trail, playground, and basketball court. The park is open year-round and is a popular destination for hiking, fishing, and picnicking. The waterfall is especially beautiful in the spring and fall, when the water levels are high.
The entrance to the park is located on the right side of Fall Run Road, just before the intersection with Route 8. There are several parking areas and lanes that lead back to the road from them.
The park is open from 6am to 11pm daily. There is no admission fee...
Read moreVery short trail, with pretty views but usually too crowded with toddlers to be enjoyed. Not really for walkers or exercise, as it is usually filled with small children and elderly people blocking the path to walk at a decent pace.
Less than a half mile of trail but usually absolutely packed to the brim on nice days. If you don't have small children I would avoid it unless it's particularly empty.
Honestly feels like you're at Disneyworld on a weekend here, just a crowd of folks that don't know trail etiquette and you have to walk slowly in a queue. Depressing given the natural beauty.
Edit: I just looked at reviews and it looks like it may have been affected by a tiktok account recently encouraging people to go. It's 4x as crowded as it was a few years ago and lots of reviews in the past months. That explains a lot, and will likely work itself out in a few more months and become...
