Having lived in South Jersey for the first 26.5 years of my life, I visited the Pine Barrens many times and would frequently drive by this mansion, wondering what was inside. Alas, I could not find a time period when the mansion was open before I moved to North Carolina. However, upon returning to the area for a visit, I got word that the mansion was open to the public, and I made sure I got a chance to see the inside. While there is no furniture or artifacts inside, it was cool to see much of the history, particularly all of the iron items that were made with ore from the Pine Barrens. Nick, the guide was REALLY AMAZING and soooo knowledgeable regarding the history of the family and the house. His descriptions were riveting and I will be buying tickets to take the tour again. Read moreOnly worth a stop if you're passing by the immediate area. Interesting historic site but not much else here. There is a ranger's station but it looks closed to the public. I didn't see much information other than the one info sign in front of the mansion.
There doesn't look to be tours or anything available for the mansion. There is also another structure nearby that is dilapidated but there's nothing there to explain what it is. Again, not worth a trip...
