Nice hike around the loop. Short enough to do in a couple hours our less depending on your pace and long enough to feel like you did something. Trail runs along a small stream for a good portion before the trail turns up the mountain. Nice spot with a great view at the top to relax and check out the sights. Overall it's not too difficult although some spots are pretty steep and the terrain a bit rough. Young kids will need help but it's suitable for a family outing. Would be challenging for persons not in good shape. The loop connects with the AT and could be a starting point of a longer day hike. A few AT trail camp sites, complete with a honey hole and bear boxes are just down the mountain opposite the...

Hiked this yesterday (8/4/21). Did it in 90 minutes, but 2 hours might be more leisurely. Amazing beauty, stillness, quiet. The moss everywhere is the greenest of greens. The brook / stream is running full steam right now - little waterfalls and pools. If it had been a hot day it would have been wonderful to take the water, but beautiful just to watch. The forest scents here are amazing - the smell of a happy Earth. Saw - for the first time ever - a full sized Great Horned owl - flying in the woods, through the trees. It alighted on a branch 50, 60 feet away and sat. Turned its head and watched us. Amazing sight. The ridge views are peerless. This...

Beautiful trail with stunning vistas all the way. We took advice from previous hikers who recommended going counter clockwise or turning north when you reach the Pine Loop Trail sign near the parking spaces located across the road adjacent to the Housatonic river. If you go clockwise, or turn south at the sign, you will have a very sharp decline in the last part of the trail. Either way, it is a very invigorating hike. Two hours for us probably because trail was wet and it...

A very nice short but intermediate level trail. We visited during autumn and the trail looks surreal like a magic forest. It's very woody but u can still see through the trees so it's not too dark, and the litter of autumn leaves on the ground makes for a beautiful scene. The climb up is challenging but if u take it slow, anyone healthy can make it. Trekking poles recommended. You have to navigate many rock faces so it's best to avoid when it's wet.
